re: Out of morbid curiosity, does anyone know why Robert Miller is "unavailable" today?

So if a player doesn’t make it to the NBA he hasn’t developed or improved ? Thanks for showing more stupidity. No doubt Wade was a better talent evaluator than McMahon but again u you show your ignorance claiming the only sign of development and improvement is the NBA.

McMahon did a lot to get Ward to come back for a 3rd year, again that is on him if he decided to quit for whatever reasons. If he had these issues, why try to even get him to come back so hard and count on him as a starter basically only to have quit before the season started. It was widely reported Ward was thinking of leaving but McMahon convinced him to stay then we got no more out of him past sophomore season anyways
So McMahon is a dirty dog for convincing as player to not transfer, something every coach in the country is now doing in th eage of NIL and open transfer? Whatever issue Ward was dealing with may not have surfaced until preseason practice was underway. I am sure the stafff did all they could to assist him in getting help. If he still felt it was in his best interest to step away from the game thats not on the coach.
Why shouldn't he count on him as a starter? Imagine the offense with Cam Carter firing from one side and Ward on the other with Jordan Sears at the point also launching. That would have been a potent offense which would have made a healthy Jalen Reed even ore effective down low with Collins and Miller in the post. That team would have been at least in the middle of the league and in the tournament.

The issue was, according to the mcmen, Ward just got passed up by better players. Up until his absence could be used as an excuse then it was claimed nobody had ever said that and Ward was the missing piece. Just like Jalen Cook, just like Mike Williams, just like Jalen Reed, just like Corey Chest and I’m sure there are others.

quote:It seemed like he was beat out for a starting spot last year, but in hindsight we don't know if he lost the starting spot because of on the court or off the court issues. Either way he could have easily gotten back into the the starting lineup or been a great 6th man. No telling why he chose to nope off.

Jalen Cook started when he was eligible but apparently sulked when he went to the bench.
Mike Williams started off poorly (had an early game with 3 turnovers in less than a minute). But I never really saw him quit on the team. Maybe at the very end.
Jalen Reed: When did he ever quit? He got ton of playing time. I was very sad to see him injured the last 2 seasons.
Corey Chest: He got a ton of playing time, then moved onto a new school where he got a lot less. Victim of reading the Rant.

I dont believe the issue was ever disclosed, and rightly so if it was a mental issue. He would have been prominent in the rotation even if there were better players which would have made the team stronger. Remember he had an outstanding second half of the 2024 season averaging around 15 points down the stretch. No reason he could not have done even better as a more experienced player. The same with Jalen Reed. Both would have made major jumps if healthy. No one is claiming LSU would have been competing for a top four spot in the leagus, but its ludicrous to to claim they would not have contended for the top half of the league for the second year in a row. The same absolutely applies to this season with a healthy Thomas and Reed. Today is a prime example as they took the five star laden Wildcats to the wire for the second time this year. McMahon was the best coach on the floor today. He wa so animated Mark Pope just stood sedately by with his arms folded .

It’d be nice if we had a system like Purdue. Shooters dream.
College sports suck so much these days I completely forgot both those guys were on the team last season.

Kentucky has lost 3x the amount of games due to injury than we have missing better players

quote:The players that made the NBA under Wade were considered NBA prospects out of high school. Maybe the one exception being Skyler Mays, but you could always see his talent and he was putting in serious work.
The McMen view improvement through a different lens than the Wade group, Wade took kids and made them better and developed them into nba players.

BigSalt, I had read something similar to what I'm about to post here, I just don't remember who posted it.
I'm starting to believe that a deal with Wade is done to come back.
Now wouldn't it help the process if a few BS rumors were floated around that we're actually considering keeping this failure?
It would take the heat off of Wade from the Raliegh media, then we swoop in after April 1 and buy him out for $3 million. USA today ran that article a few weeks ago about us possibly keeping McMahon. Possibly a smokescreen?
I think this scenario becomes more likely every day that passes without LSU firing McMahon.
I have no sources, just trying to speculate about what could be going on.

This is an old argument that was debunked and now is being resurrected. Players Wade coached who outperformed their ranking. You can go to sports reference and see the numbers every player in each class put up. The amount of players Wade coached who outperformed their station is insanely high.

Was averaging 8.7 RPG before he and McMahon had their falling out and I’m not the one who drowned him the missing link in season 2. The mcmen did

You’re right, they don’t care about the truth or the team. They want to keep losing
