When you have Skenes-Floyd and Anderson-Eyanson, you can’t help but be good. Evans and Schmidt never really took that extra step. They have been good but just not top level.

All those pitchers you named were juniors except for Anderson. Let’s see what Schmidt/evans can do next year before saying they can’t take that extra step.

honest question, how do Schmidt and Evans compare right now to when those other guys were young?

Agreed…. Maybe next year.

Not really.
Schmidt has been pretty good.

Evans, outside of the OU game, Evans has not been very sharp. He can be unhittable in one at bat, then walk the next 2.
He can be great, but he’s been very inconsistent this season

As frustrated as this season has been. They have the potential to be the best staff in the country next season, if these arms return.

I still think Schmidt and Evans would be better (statistics-wise) if our defense wasn't at t-ball level. Those guys from previous years had great defense which definitely helped their numbers slightly, not to take away from their dominance though.

Eyanson’s FB velo is up he broke 100 in the spring.

Eyanson with velo is going to be fricking problem for hitters.

That’s fair. They’d have to pitch less batters, lower pitch count, etc.

Holman and Jump were also better.

Yea Skenes, Anderson and Eyanson didn’t need very much defense when you have 208, 180 & 152 Ks on the year.

While Skenes is the best overall pitcher of the group, Anderson/Eyanson is the best 1-2 punch LSU has had since probably the 90s or ever.

There were no pitchers at that level in the portal this year. If you go back to the interviews last summer when the portal and freshman class shook out you could see that CJJ was visibly upset. This was the first year he couldn’t count on the portal
