And Nuss has to run just a little in the big games (Ole Miss, Bama) to keep the defense honest.

Any offense with one dimensional QB becomes predictable.

I didnt love the power T stuff.

If you’re going under center, let the RB come down hill.

I didnlike the 4th down call. we got blown up, but the play worked. Williams was wide open of Nuss has a second to get the pass off.

Nuss threw a pick in the red zone, missed Pimpton for a TD.

And that’s going to happen. I dont want to rag on Nuss.

But I feel like play calling wasn’t our issue anywhere near as much as execution was.

but we have to add screens or counters when the defense just pins their ears back every play to get to the QB

We literally scored a TD on a split zone cutback type play that took advantage of SC blitzing on 3rd and 9.

Problem is that we got no push on those plays because they’re just stacked in the middle. Remember the replay where they showed all the USC players pinched and we ran right into it? Gotta be able to make them respect you on the edges.

like I said, I dont didn’t love the run plays out of that formation.

but it was something completely different.

i don’t know if running it 3 times in that formation was the move though.

Otherwise I cant sit here and say “that was a shitty play call.”

I liked the idea as well but again you can’t just run into their teeth again and again when you’re not moving them. You can go outside from that formation, we just didn’t.

But you have to do that more than once to make the defense react to it.

We ran the Zavion motion a bunch. The first time we handed it to him for like 11 yards and then we play faked off that same motion multiple times. The game winning TD also worked because of a jet motion where the DB followed the WR leaving no one home.

Biggest problem is the red zone and short yardage because we aren’t creative enough in threatening the D horizontally. Durham should help there but you still need to give them something to think about outside so they can’t just stack it from tackle to tackle in those situations.

yep. you have to attack east-west and then north-south using whole field.

saints were very effective yesterday against the cowgirls using classic toss sweeps and quick outside tosses. we need jet sweeps also. and bubble screens. stretch them out horizontally then you can gouge them between tackles as long as your formation keeps them spread out.

Creativity when calling plays is not formation-dependent. You can have scores of plays and motions out of one base formation and be successful.

Lining up in shotgun and running inside zone every short yardage play is completely asinine. When you're predictable, the formation and other window dressings don't accomplish anything.

We were 1 yard away from putting up 40+ on the road against a pretty good defense in an extremely hostile environment. Offense is fine. Just needs better execution in a couple spots.

In the QB's first SEC road start.

It was just a slow start for the offense. The team was unprepared to match USC's intensity, and everyone was off because of it. Once the offense found its stride, it started eating up yards.

Clearly, issues to work on in the red zone, and most of that has to do with the run game issues.

he has always been a poster who is football ignorant.

i'd love to hear his views on how all those old style stand up drop back passers who were not runners did so well in college.

MUH 1 DIMENSIONAL!

Running the i-formation could make our offense extremely tough to scheme against. The i-formation is an incredibly powerful play action formation that, with the right personel, be extremely hard to stop. It's a very multiple formation with tons of play options that can be ran out of it.

We've done it gents. Full Circle. Went from hating the old i formation during the Les era to now wanting it back when our offense isn't the fricking problem

i actually was surprised but enjoyed seeing the T formation at least on 1 play. just have to run more plays out of it if you want it as a staple of the offense and not be predictable

2nd sacks
15th TFL
37th RZC
64 Run Def
50 Total Def

I hope you are correct, but it seems like a bold statement about an unranked team with not articles saying how good they are this year.

sorry i had Red Zone TD% which is different that total Redzone% but i think is more
important.

if you give up 60% TDs and 0 FG you’re doing. worst that 75% Fg and 0 Tds.

but again there is a lot to indicate their defensive front is disruptive. they aren’t perfect but they will cause issues.

We did score 36 points and had 400+ yards of total offense. it was just a tough game to do that
