JJ came in and we expected to turn things around immediately. We’ve just gotta keep showing up and supporting our guys. Now let’s go sweep Missouri!

LSU baseball program expectations should never be too high. When did we start letting mediocrity set in

Never. Baseball is Omaha every year, football is a NY6 bowl and basketball is the NCAA tournament.

When we decided to keep PM past his expiration date. Bringing in JJ was the right move and people will be happily eating crow here within the next few years IMO.

So what’s the excuse on not being able to hit?

For the most part I agree except for football. My expectation is get to Atlanta. Or maybe my hope is to get to Atlanta - not expectation.

Amid all the off season hype I was gonna make a point about how we always forget to account for defense and how important it is, probably would’ve been downvoted.

LSU should be in a Super Regional every year. That’s only top 16. Omaha is top 8. For comparison of expectations, when was the last time Bama finished outside the top 8 in football? How many times did it happen repeatedly?

Expectations for LSU baseball aren’t too high.

LSU baseball was so many years ahead of everyone in terms of money facilities, titles, etc in college baseball. Many caught up and passed us up and now we are just sailing average in the sec at this moment.

Well when you inherit a lineup with “potentially four or five future MLBer’s”, expectations are understandably high. They’ve under achieved with all their stats coming from the trash they’ve played, and disappear against the above average competition.

Not a fair comparison at all. Football does not equal baseball

Anyone that expects this team to win is kidding themselves. We’re at the “I hope we win” level now. That’s how far manieri let this program fall before he walked away. And other programs have lapped us. I thought there was enough talent back from last year’s super regional team to compete with the better SEC teams offensively but apparently there isn’t. Disappointing.

We should be dominating. I hate to say it’s JJ cause I like the guys but we are never in position amd can’t hit in timely situations

I’m confused. You say CPM let this program fall but also think we had enough talent from last years team to compete. Then Our talent got better from last years team.

Why would expectation be too high if you admit you thought we could compete but also thinks an expectation to win is kidding ourselves?

You need to reread what I said. I said I thought we’d have enough talent to compete offensively with the better SEC teams. We added a first team all-American in Berry, and Joubert had been a plus offensive addition. And yet we score zero runs yesterday and only 2 today.

We knew the pitching would be weaker but they’ve been able to keep us in most games. The shitty fielding has directly led to about 5 losses. And if the top 4 guys in the lineup aren’t producing we’re losing.

And yes, despite our reaching a super last year Manieri let this program slip behind quite a few programs. His SEC record over the last 4 years is proof.

Apologies. I misunderstood.

When you said you thought we had enough to compete offensively, I thought you meant compete for wins. Not compete for offensive stats.

So I was confused when you stated anyone who thought we could win is kidding themselves. I figured compete for wins meant we could win
