Lindsey Scott will give Etling all the competition he can handle. And then some. Don't be surprised if....

Justin McMillan gets the garbage-time reps behind Etling, and we all get to enjoy scout team tape of Scott running in circles in the pocket.

You didn't finish your sentence.

Not acceptable.
LIndsey Scott's lifetime passion is to be the starting QB for LSU.

Really? How else would you throw a deep ball? Jumping in the air? Falling down after throwing off your front foot? Would look pretty goofy.

And soon all of the QB scouts and coaches of the rant will be out in full force saying Etling cannot throw over 50 yards. The throw he made on that play was done with ease and it's obvious. His mechanics need some work, possibly, but his arm strength is there. Some just don't want to admit it, or see it.

He needs to work on his timing because he doesnt have great arm strength and if he waits too long to pull the trigger, its probably gonna come up short.
Because of his lack of arm strength he needs to figure out how quick he needs make a deep throw so that the wr can run under it and it wont be underthrown.

Not from I've read about this kid. Didn't even grow up as a fan. But as long as he's a student of the game I'm cool

If Etling is "clearly the leader", thousands of Rantards will conclude there is no "real" quarterback competition

I would actually be concerned if JM or Scott were pressing Etling. JM is NOT SEC material and Scott is tiny.

I just how DE stays healthy and one of the freshman is one of those freak ready on day 1 guys

Why not go hire a badass recruiter and call him a Special Teams coach at least.
Here's a novel idea.

Why not hire an experienced and knowledgeable bad arse Special Teams Coach and call him the Special Teams Coach!

This team already has enough "Great Recruiters" on the Staff. We need somebody that knows what the hell he's doing in that critical area. Don't like the idea of 4 different coaches "Chipping In" to handle all the ST's.

Hopefully, when a 10th coach is approved, O will get an experienced expert in here. (And not a Shadow Coach)

Methinks Danny will be the starter all year, unless he gets injured and/or Brennan looks like Manziel in Fall camp. Canada is going to improve him leaps and bounds.

Scott may get some snaps in special situations, but he'll never be a FT starter in the SEC because he wont be an effective enough passer in the super high pressure of an SEC Game. (SEC Football Game does not equate to LSU Football Practice)

So many experts on this board. Had no idea they knew so much about our back up quarterbacks!

As ive said b4:
- sec material at QB is a fallacy. It's a league of game managers and dual threats. It's not an elite qb league. I know it hurts, but it's true.

- based on the above idea, no reason jm couldn't flourish

- Scott weighs 215. Bigger than Russell wilson, similar to Blake simms. Short, but certainly not tiny.

Go check out a spring practice.

Thing is, true frosh/redshirt freshman haven't had the opportunity to disprove that. "By far" is a stretch. I like his experience though

DE is the guy by default. Plus he is very inteligent. Dont be suprised if Canada looks to develop a guy with a higher ceilings. Remember it's Canada (not Orgeron) who declared the "open competition" in the first place. In the end, it will be his call.

As to Scott, he may be situational. But if he touches the field, it's going to be hard to get him off IMHO.

I agree that the SEC is far from practice. Kid reminds me of a more dynamic 5th yr Blake simms, who broke the school record for passing yards in a championship season. He had jockeyed between rb & qb. As you know. Book by its cover just doesn't always work.
