Well, we definitely are going to sit back and watch. I wish we had made the best hire that we think we could have made.

I keep hearing that the 2016 offense broke records and he was the QB.

am all in with ya'll on that. Nothing could be truer for me. I would like to see him over come the odds and be a great coach at LSU just because it would be good for LSU (nothing to do with Ed Orgeron, just that that goes hand in hand right now) Also I don't see the first season as being disastrous (which was the point of this thread). (why do I have to point out something so obvious) mixed in with facts.?
why arent you extremely excited?
the coach you love had the same record in year 1 as The GOAT had in year 3.

Yes there was some hyperbole in the OP
most would call it outright ignorance but thats semantics.

Hahahaha ... I'm just repeating what I keep hearing about Slinger my friend.

It's a pretty simple concept. You must have an idea of how well you think this team will perform. Look at the schedule game by game and guess whether or not you think we'll win, then add up the results. If the team doesn't perform up to that, then they haven't met your expectations. Follow? What's so hard to understand about that?
well that's not really how I follow football or sports in general. I really don't gamble on sports but have heard some rumblings that they may legalize sports gambling in some fashion here in Louisiana in which case I could see myself maybe putting some money down on some UFC fights, which I find I enjoy much more with a little cash on the line. I don't need that to be excited about for LSU football though

Did you know Etling has the most 20 yard or more completions in LSU history?

edit: HOLY shite!! just was double checking that fact to see if maybe Wikipedia was lying and discovered that Saban went 5-3, 5-3, 5-3, and 7-1 in the SEC in his 4 years at LSU while Coach Orgeron went 6-2 in the SEC in his very first season!!!

this speaks volumes about the complete lack of QB dev over the last 15 years or so....wouldn't you agree?

Rickdaddy, you are stating some things that are fact and are negative, some things that don't have any bearing on "disasterous" tag you're giving the LSU Football Team, and some things that have yet to play out.
I understand your skepticism, but dont just cherry pick a few negative things and use it to insult YOUR LSU Tigers.
Getting rid of Canada is a good decision in my opinion. I dont know all the details, but he seemed like a jackhole and his offense is gimmicky. Hiring him was a mistake, but his firing was not. Improvement in my opinion. No bearing on a disaster.
I seem to remember some injuries, some attrition and weirdos like Arden Key affecting the beginning of our season. The aranda defense couldnt slow down anybody at the beginning of the season. The team, especially the defense, matured in the second half of the Auburn game. That game was the most enjoyable to me last season. Loved watching them win!!!!!
Our recruiting class was not super sexy, but it is slammed full of some road graders, brick walls and grizzly bears, which is exactly what his intent was for this recruiting class. They didnt have all the flashy stars, but this class may turn out to be more productive than most. So this is still to be determined.
Although I see your point, and understand your negative bias, ... I dont agree with your opinion always.
I pull for the Tigers, I hope you do too!!!!!

As if I'm not already enough of a fantasy football degenerate, all I need is for Draft kings and FanDuel to be legal here.

this has all been rationalized though and apparently has no bearing in the discussion.

IMO, his hiring and firing actually was a disaster. Why shouldn't any LSU fan question every hire after that one along with Mickey Joseph? To take it a step further, why shouldn't we question all of the administrative moves after that?

just to entertain your world for a moment. What if we did fire coach O right now, do you think that would be a good move for the program? You think that would be looked at as a good move around the country? What about the financial hit to the program? You think recruits around the country are going to say that that is the type program they want to play for? One that fires a coach after a 9-4 season his first year and is well liked by his players? Are you a stupid person?
if we're in a world where I can fire O, well then I would have never hired the clown in the first place.
Clearly, we can't fire him at this very moment. But let's ignore the PR aspect of it for a second and say O is fired tomorrow, is the team really any worse off without him? What changes? Isn't that really the problem with this whole set up? Our CEO is a completely replaceable figurehead

Only thing I can see is that you had a problem with someone saying that this past year was disastrous. That's someone's opinion. You may disagree with it or not but that's their opinion.
that's pretty much what this forum is. You have a belief or opinion on something and state it and unless someone gives you enough reason to sway or change your opinion, you argue in favor of it and try to sway others. To what end? entertainment perhaps and maybe get some insight into situations relating to LSU football that may enlighten or alter your or my view and see it in a different way.

Absolutely not. Promote DA as Interim and let him continue to run the D....hand pick his successor at DC and make it full-time at any point after he finds his man.
