We all knew alleva was incompetent but this should call into question every board members business acumen

And with all that being said, he still had zero leverage.

Sure, maybe he could've gotten another D-line position somewhere. But we still have Pete Jenkins now, so it's not like he'd have been any great loss.

Agree 100%. I was just speculating on O's thought process.

Amoeba is an idiot and should have either said no to the buyout or insisted on de-escalator clauses for sucking.

Calling BS--- no way O out-did anybody anything-- ALLEVA was tired, frustrated, and broken; He put in large buy out to protect Joe.

Let us not forget that Will Wade fresh off of great coaching at VCU, came to an LSU program with way more issues than the football program and had plenty more options than O

Guess how much his buyout is

$0.00 dollars.

It would seem that F(uc)King and the BoS really know very little about athletics and this was strictly a rubber stamp proposition.

But it doesn't protect Joe. If it went south he was never hiring the next coach.

Which means it works both ways.

2 good NCAA tourney runs and UCLA or North Carolina can come calling, with nothing to penalize them for doing so.

My god, I'd hate to see what how bad Alleva gets screwed everytime he buys a car or a house.

That's not the point.

Joe was gambling that LSU would never fire him for the Orgeron hire without firing Orgeron too. In giving O that insane buyout, he was just hedging his bets.

No one is denying that...the issue is Alleva letting it happen. He essentially gifted the upper hand to Orgeron on a silver platter. Ridiculous.

Why do I get the feeling Joe Alleva's house is just full of shite you buy from infomercials and "as seen on TV" ads?

Apparently this moron couldn't see a bad business deal if it slapped him in the face.

No, that's not the point. He didn't have to hedge anything. He could have just played the cards he was dealt.

Why did he need a $12 million buyout if LSU is his dream job?

The next AD has to be in place before O is even fired. Ed's buyout offers Joe zero protection.
