The comments by Orgeron after this week’s win no doubt added fuel to the long rumored fire that Canada and Orgeron do not get along. We fans are al left wondering if Canada will be fact. More importantly, it is fair to assume our qb recruits are wondering as well.

Intended or not, Oregon’s comments made it sound like he was encouraging Canada to go. Putting aside the question of whether LSU is better off with or without Canada, offensive recruits must be wondering who will be their offensive coach next year.

Unless and until Orgeron clarifies his remarks, a fair assumption is that he doesn’t want Canada back and that the reported tension between the two is real.

Maybe no one knows what to do. Canada has a big contract with LSU and unless he finds something better or gets fired and bought out, he isn’t going anywhere. I sure have not seen his name mentioned in any head coach searches.

With reports that Canada is hitting th erecruiting trail looking for qbs, the cloud lingering over his future, a cloud made heavier by Orgeron’s comments that Canada might not be staying, could be hurting our qb search.

Maybe the problem is Alleva and LSU just don’t know how it’s going to play out. It’s amazing how little reliable inside information is out there on this. If Canada is staying, you would think someone would get out in front of this and clarify Orgeron’s comments. It has to be a question that comes up when Canada goes into a qb recruit’s hime.

Other schools will definitely use it on the recruiting trail just like they did with Jenkins

I am literally shocked at how fricking dumb those comments were by Orgeron

Just when he was starting to win me over slightly, he goes and does that

I get where everyone is coming from with O’s comment...

But if he said the same thing about Aranda would everyone think he’s leaving? I’m sure every HC hopes their coordinators who want to be HC’s get an opportunity.

Maybe everyone is taking these comments to literal?

Bingo! Everyone is reading into those comments to make it fit their own personal agenda and narrative. It’s the rant HoF coaches way.

You would think someone who is an "expert recruiter" would understand how much his unnecessary comments can negatively affect recruiting. His ego really shows in his comments to media.

Maybe Orgeron is just clumsy when it comes managing his communications to the media.

I generally like openness and transparency in leadership style. However because of recruiting, excellent HCs are very tight lipped about this sort of thing. It's is a great example where Coach O opens his mouth "half way"...says something with with honest intent to be transparent when he needs to be very selective and more purposeful in what he wants to share. He HAS to get better about communicating with a purpose.

What kind of a HC would you be if you didn't encourage professional growth for your Coordinators? Of course he wants his guys to advance to the next level. You people are reading too much into this.

When Orgeron's comments are immediately accompanied by by a suspicious groundswell of anti Canada comments on this site from seldom- heard- from posters, one can draw a much more negative inference about Orgeron and his intentions.
He can be plausibly depicted as setting up Canada for failure and fan distrust. This would be consistent with the manipulative behavior some described last year, when (according to those stories) Orgeron started undermining Miles while still on Miles' staff with Alleva and BOS.
I don't know if any of this is true, but it has my attention and I am concerned about it.

Of course. Orgeron sounded more like he is pushing Canada out. Which feeds into the already existing rumors. He is completely tone deaf.

Agreed. It is not as if he came up with the comments just out of nowhere. A reporter asked, specifically, about 'what would happen IF Canada took a HC job'.

Now, we can all suggest we'd prefer he give "coach speak" answers like "we are preparing for a bowl game" , "I'm not speculating about the future", etc.

He answered the question asked:

What if Canada takes a HC job? - We will hire an OC that runs an offense I want to run. We have someone on staff (I ASSUME this was meant that he would take care of OC duties if Canada took the hypothetical HC job and left immediately. Not here for bowl game)

But, LSU fans LLLOOOOVVVEEEE catastrophe syndrome and I'm not surprised.

This fanbase is full of fools. Canada is looking for a head coaching job. This is no secret and has been reported by multiple media outlets. O was just answering a question he was asked.
