Ok, let me know when they stick the 6’2 200lb dude who you say can’t field at 2nd.

Great player, JJ is setting the table for another NC! What a great CBB coach, we are so lucky to have him. I give Woodard a LOT of credit on this hire.

Could Tanner play 2nd base?

Was wondering that myself. It would mitigate his lack of a gun arm from 3rd. However, can he field well enough for that spot? 2nd and SS have a lot of ground to cover, especially with all of the shifts.

Well he’s not playing 3B and the best place to hide him in the infield will be 2B. And that’s if he hits. If he can’t hit then he’s on the bench.

And I’m not talking about hitting against inferior pitching neither

If I’m not mistaken all HS shortstops and all athletic. I have no idea about Caraway besides people in this thread saying he’s a big guy that can’t field and projects at 1b of 3b. You can throw out all this so and so play a game here but the reality is it’s not the norm. Also, none of those guys except maybe Dugas, the hs shortstop, was any good there.

BK is a bust so far.

frick off with this. Has he fully lived up to what we want? No. Has he improved the program from where O left it smoking in the ditch? Yes. This season will define some things, but Kelly isn’t a “bust” today.

Look at some of the high profile hires that year and since- Riley, Napier, Cristobal, Freeze, etc. None of them have performed better overall to this point and Freeze is flirting with disaster at Auburn. He’s managed that rebuild far worse than Kelly, even with the mistakes he made with the defense.

Other coaches people were considering as candidates here at the time like Fisher and Stoops have fallen off tremendously and either been fired or are on a major hot seat. Mel Tucker ended up fired disgrace. Out of who was seen as available at the time, we could have done a LOT worse.

The coaches that have tracked better as of this year are Freeman and Lanning. Freeman was a battlefield promotion who was seen as having a high risk of failure early on and would never have been considered a legitimate head coach candidate here at the time. He would have been one HELL of a DC is Notre Dame hasn’t hired him, though.

Lanning was a coordinator hire, which would have been panned here at the time. He’s turned out to be a very good coach, but that’s never a guarantee for a coordinator with no major head coaching experience. That would have been a huge risk coming off the end of O’s tenure.

Did you skip this part or no

quote:

In the early 2020s, due in part to increasing numbers of strikeouts and use of infield shifts, teams have become increasingly willing to move players to more difficult positions (rightward along the spectrum).[10] Players such as Ryan McMahon, Max Muncy, Travis Shaw, and Mike Moustakas have transitioned, either permanently or temporarily, from third base to second base as part of a trend of physically larger athletes being placed at the latter position.[2]

If you like Woodward that's on you for accepting mediocrity. We have the worst basketball facility in the conference with abysmal attendance and one of the worst hires in the SEC in the last several years. And the excuses after last season good lord fricking puke. What a joke our MBB program has become and it's all his fault.

BK is a bust until he does something. Too much money and resources for the results to this point. I don't want to hear more excuses, win or fire him this year. Reminds me way too much of Jumbo at aTm.

If baseball is the saving grace for some of you, yikes. That shows where the main sports are that college baseball is all we currently have, something so unpopular nationally it barely draws any viewership and 9/10 people couldn't care less about. Worse than double A minor leagues for gods sake. People care because right now it's all we have not because the sport is worth a damn. Lying to yourself.

Gatorade player of the year in California in 2023
Hit something like .350 and 6 homers in their ncaa tourney run this year.

I think at this time we should all be able to trust Jay improving guys avg and defense He’s done it with plenty of guys before.

And he was a top 50 or 75 draft prospect at one point.
