Assuming Minnesota loses and should Oregon and Alabama win out, the Playoff committee (more importantly, the sponsors) will want Oregon in over Alabama. The national viewership doesn't want to see an Alabama vs. LSU or an Alabama vs. Clemson rematch again. I assume the ratings for that game(s) would be fairly low considering.

Should Alabama backdoor there way in...again, I think you're more likely to see an Ohio State vs. Alabama and LSU vs. Clemson pairing.

False. LSU would still have the best resume of all of those teams, even with a loss, and would get in over the other teams unless Baylor remains undefeated.

Yep. Anybody that says a one loss conference champ winner should get in over a one loss conference champ loser 100% of the time, should just throw the schedule argument out the window.

If Clemson was upset before the conference championship and still won the conference vs a 4-5 loss opponent, how in the hell is that better than LSU beating a likely 1 loss team, a 2 loss team, 1-2 more ranked teams, and their one loss being to a one loss top 2 team? Remember how people kept talking shite about us not scoring on a good defense until we did it vs UF? Clemson doesn't have one team on their schedule close to being as good as UF, and that will have been the third best team we would have played before the playoffs. Just because Clemson is putting 40, 50, 60, points up on scrubs doesn't mean they'll look like that vs a legit team.

I'll tell y'all what's gonna happen though. LSU, Ohio St, and Clemson will win out, and either 12-1 Oklahoma or 12-1 Oregon/Utah will finish 4th. Clemson will play Ohio St and get beat, possibly by double digits. LSU ends up boat racing Oklahoma, but probably win it something like 52-41, or beating the breaks off of Oregon like 45-24.

Ohio St/LSU is a rematch from 2007.

I expect AU to beat UGA this weekend. I also expect Utah to win the PAC.

This would be the third time Bama did not win the west but was given the opportunity to play for a national title. 2011 & 2017 seasons.
I see Bama being gifted the 4th spot once again. It’s bad for the sport, but if I’m LSU I don’t care who we play, and beating them twice would be better than any other scenario.

the oregon ad has to leave the room when they discuss oregon

True, but he will have some questions when he walks back in the room and his buddies tell him “we left Oregon out.”

If you have spent as much time together as these guys you will have some sort of bias for their school. It’s human nature.

Plus i think they deserve it if their only loss is auburn.

Rankings don’t matter till December. Every year at this time people freak out about all the possible undefeated teams. In the end there will be 2-3 undefeated teams only. And whoever the best 1 loss team is will get in.

If they win out and don't get in, it would be the ultimate verification that you SHOULD schedule cupcakes

Absolutely. There would no longer be any incentive to put your record at risk by playing a fellow P5 opponent. It also would conclusively establish that conference championships AND conf. championship games are irrelevant

Minnesota should be 4th. They’re undefeated with a top 5 win.

What more are they supposed to do?

The narrative this year is that it’s not about your beat wins, it’s about the average quality of all your wins combined. Or your best loss if you’re bama

It’s amazing watching the committee change the criteria every single frickin year
