It seems I’ve struck a nerve with a couple of folks for suggesting Woodward won’t be patting Orgeron on the back for 9 win seasons lmao
Nah, that's your imagination. In fact, Woodward and Orgeron seem to get along really well.
Orgeron will stand or fall on his own merit regardless of AD.

I wanted him to walk in with a plan like Mullen, Fisher or Herman. Not throw shite at a wall each year and see what sticks.
Agreed. I thought that was the whole deal behind the famous "binder", that he had a complete plan from day one. Doesn't look like that was the case.

We still have a below average offensive line and a very difficult schedule. Our defensive line is average until Shelvin and Ika step up. Yes we have a solid veteran QB and the receiver back. Very THN at experience at RB.
You must be pretty unhappy with O’s recruiting classes from 2017-2019.

I guess that all depends on Brennan, doesn’t it?
Not really.
You have to remember the shape we were in the day Miles was fired. 2-2, unranked, and had lost 3 straight games the previous November.
Compare that to now, coming off a #7 final ranking last season, with a ton of returning experience.
We are in much better shape now.

So why’d you highlight that?

I love how you use objective albeit selective game results to paint a picture of the end of Miles tenure and speculative poll results to paint a picture of the current landscape under Orgeron. Miles had 3-loss seasons 3 of his last 4 years and was ranked 13th, 14th, and 16th, respectively. But because the CFB landscape was so unbelievably top-heavy in Orgeron's 3-loss season that we were ranked 6th, that makes it okay.
Miles' last 16 games: 11-5 (6-4 in SEC)(0-3 against Top 10)(2-1 against 11-25)
Miss. State (9-4) W - 21-19
Auburn (7-6) W - 45-21
Syracuse (4-8) W - 34-24
Eastern Michigan (1-11) W - 44-22
South Carolina (3-9) W - 45-24
#25 Florida (10-4) W - 35-28
#24 Western Kentucky (12-2) W - 48-20
#1 Alabama (14-1) L - 16-30
Arkansas (8-5) - L - 14-31
#10 Ole Miss (10-3) L - 38-17
Texas A&M (8-5) W - 19-7
Texas Tech (7-6) W - 56-27
#9 Wisconsin (11-3) L - 14-16
Jacksonville State W - 34-13
Mississippi State (6-7) W - 23-20
#24 Auburn (8-5) L - 13-18
Orgeron's last 16 games: 12-4 (7-3 in SEC)(1-2 against Top 10)(1-2 against 11-25)
Tennessee (4-8) W - 30-10
Texas A&M (7-6) W - 45-10
#11 Notre Dame (10-3) L - 21-17
Miami (7-6) W - 33-17
SE Louisiana W - 31-0
Auburn (8-5) W - 22-21
LA Tech (8-5) W - 38-21
Ole Miss (5-7) W - 45-16
#7 Florida (10-3) L - 27-19
#7 Georgia (11-3) W - 36-16
Miss St. (8-5) W - 19-3
#2 Alabama (14-1) L - 0-29
Arkansas (2-10) W - 24-17
Rice (2-11) W - 42-10
#16 Texas A&M (9-4) L - 72-74
#11 UCF (12-1) W - 40-32
Literally the only differences between the last 2+ years from both coaches is that Orgeron beat Georgia and Miles lost to Arkansas.

Interesting place to start.
Conveniently leaving out the 5 loss season.

Miles wasn't even in hot water after 2014. He wasn't in hot water for losing to Alabama in 2015. He was in hot water for losing three straight in terrible fashion with an inept offensive showing in 2015.
Any football coach in the SEC will be on the hot seat losing three straight, much less in blowout fashion.

selective game results
It’s not selective, it’s the games that got Miles fired. He went 4-5 in his final 9 games as head coach.
Keep in mind I only point to those 9 games to backup my point that we are in better shape now than we were the day Miles was fired. My point is NOT that Orgeron > Miles in a general sense.

I'm not sure what your point is. It also leaves out those abominations against Miss. State and Troy in 2017.

Miles was 19-10 over that stretch.
It's the last 9 games that got him fired.

And yet here we are comparing him to Miles again. I know you didn't bring it up, Rog and that you're not a fan of the comparison either. You were just the last response in that part of the thread.

this is correct.
It's also irrelevant. We're in a better position preseason than we have been since 2013. It's all about this season.
We're in great shape to make a run.

it’s dumb to say Miles was fired for anything besides wins and losses
Well no shite he was fired for his wins and losses, but that’s literally completely different to saying he was fired for winning 10 games a year. He was fired because in his second to last full year he was 2 games below 10, in his last full year he was 1 game below 10, and in his last year he was .500 and unranked. That’s not an O cultist stance and I’m not a diehard O supporter. That’s just the facts.

Since the National Championship loss:
Why wouldn’t you include the embarrassing 21-0 thorough arse-whipping that set LSU back an entire decade in your list?
You and RickMomma seem to blot out that memory (I don’t blame you). It’s not enough to give Miles credit for making it to the game. You have to also give him credit for standing there on the sideline for 3.5 hours proving all of the analysts that considered him a vastly overrated coach 100% correct.

This I can agree to. Should be a fun one this go around.

I think it's going to be a very good season. My only concern is OL development, but if the new offensive scheme is as good as advertised it should significantly improve OL play. We are solid at every other position group.

I was very unhappy with the hire but I was willing to give him a chance (since unlike DALSU I don't have any friends that run the program)
I have to say after last season and the 2019 recruiting class I'm sold
