I think they only other program that can geographically rival LSU is Georgia (in terms of being the flagship school in a state loaded with talent).

LSU will always have a chance of being a top program. The school is the perfect storm of college football. We are the only school in a talent loaded state with a massive amount of resources with next to no competition for them.

Other SEC teams are laughing now, but they know we will be back. They’re scared. They know that this school can turn things around at the drop of a hat and win a championship. No other school has been able to win a championship with the likes of Les Miles and Ed Orgeron. Saban will be gone within the next decade and the Bama fans are aware their time will end, soon.

Keep your heads up, everyone. This next hire can set a trend for many years to come.

Georgia also has Auburn and Clemson within 30 miles of their state borders. Also Bama and the FLA schools like to get their players from GA as well.

It’s up there but others don’t have Bama in their division. The other 5 teams ain’t bad either.

I agree. If Les Miles and Ed Orgeron can win titles here, anyone can. The next coach we hire will be a NC winning coach at LSU. I’m sure as shite not sweating it.

The state of Florida produces a ton of great football players. With FSU and Miami being down, you’d think Florida would be a better program than they are.

It’s different. Even though those schools are down, they still exist. They can rise to prominence in the future. LSU doesn’t have that to worry about.

With 30 million people living in Texas and high school football facilities nice as a small college you would think one of their schools would win the NC more often.

OP I agree Louisiana has a lot of talent but we aren’t churning out NFL offensive linemen year after year. Nor do we produce a ton of outstanding QB’s every single year. Whoever takes the job better be good at recruiting out of state.

LSU should certainly be a perennial top 5 program. Unfortunately our administration has failed us for years. I think things are changing with Woodward. The LSU President, BOS, and the Gov need to give him what he needs and don’t intervene.

LSU has a natural capability for success but there are others as or more capable.

You mentioned UGA. But Texas is another and has been horribly underachieving. Another that seemingly has all the advantages but as not capitalized historically is UCLA. With their campus, location, the Rose Bowl and recruiting ground they should be more successful. They should be better historically than USC.

This will be my 9th HC at LSU fandom. I am not getting excited yet. I am all in but the coach hiring game is fraught with hazards. I will wait and see what we get.

Seems like LSU would be able to pull more talent out of Texas than they do.

I kinda agree to and extent. I don’t think there is another school in the Country that both Ed Orgeron and Les Miles would win championships at

I just don’t see that at all

LSU cannot be NC's with only Louisiana (in state) talent. UGA could. So could UF. So could Texas or the Aggies.

You don't win with per capita talent. You win big with actual numbers of players.

No Joe B, no NC for O. No Saban, no NC for Les. Talent rich, yes. Saban is the last NC quality coach LSU has had. Bama NC titles prove this.

The 1990s called. Don't get over confident. (Tenn, Neb. Florida state all agree).
