Only 4 of 13 spots are locked up - other 9 should be wide open

Crews
Morgan
Dugas
Doughty

If you count 8 position players and DH plus 3 weekend starters and one closer, that leaves 9 open spots.

If Fontenot comes back, he is closer. Same for Marceaux and Hilliard as starters.

If those three don't come back, everything is open pitching-wise.

I like Thompson, but if you can get a transfer that is better you have to try to improve that spot.

Bianco can play anywhere on the field

He’ll be somewhere

ETA: And I’ll say it. I hope the new coach sees what Morgan looks like in center. Fight me

Thompson will play in the middle next year. And it will probably be at SS. We have some good prospects coming in, but they are questionmarks on defense.

I like Bianco too, but a .246 BA / .449 Slugging / .827 OPS can possibly be improved.

380 OBP baw. And with another year, I expect all those numbers to improve for Drew.

Also will be a double digit base stealer playing a full season.

Marceaux, Fontenot, Labas, Hilliard, and Dugas are all likely gone. If by some miracle they all came back that wouldn’t leave a lot of open spots for incoming freshman. Who on the current roster is out of eligibility?

I had my doubts about Bianco but he became one of my favorite players by the end of the season. He’ll be a big part of next year’s team.

I think we might get Dugas back. Whoever the new coach is needs to sell him on playing 2B next year and showing scouts he can play there. That’s hit only shot at the next level.

If Gio leaves it won’t be because he got drafted. He hasn’t shown enough to get drafted in what will be a shortened draft.

If Thompson is starting at SS next year, we should fire our new head coach. Zero reason to have a mediocre hitter who can't field and gets the yips throwing the ball starting at LSU.

He was a true freshman, and he played fine this year. With a real hitting coach, he has plenty of room to grow. If you think Thompson struggled defensively, you won’t like who we have coming in.

I agree that Thompson was pretty dreadful in the regional and super but over the course of the entire year he was pretty solid there. The kid has a ton of potential.

Thompson will start at SS for sure. He has a very promising future.

Pretty obvious who didn't watch this team until the regionals.
