I guess I should understand the level of intelligence that will come out of the woodwork when LSU is playing in the National Championship. That was my mistake.

and I guess I should expect morons on here to worry more about correcting someones English or misuse of a word and attack that instead of actually replaying to the point of the post.
Thanks for the vernacular clear up of baseball terms. The point is Kramer took off the second he noticed the ball was going to be in the dirt. Took a perfect pick and throw to get him. So what. I hope he and every other speedster on our team does the same thing tonite given the opportunity.

How did the official score keeper rule? Did he rule Kramer was caught stealing? How do Kramer's stats read now?

Yes, I am going to correct something that is so elementary to what we're talking about when I see something that wrong.

As far as your post, given the situation it was not good baseball. Aggressiveness is great. But you need to be smart about it and pick your spots. That was not a good one at all.

Example? Josh Smith trying to stretch that single to double was a good baseball play.

But is was a mistake from a baseball awareness and situation standpoint. Young agressive player...it happens but still a mistake.

It was correct even from the awareness and situation standpoint. You keep saying "we needed baserunners" but we were only down one.

Have you ever heard Skip talk about Wilson's situational awareness leading off the bottom of the 9th in 96? The only difference between that and Smith last night was Florida made a game saving, close play and Miami didn't.

difference in opinion there. nothing wrong with that. I liked the play. It was a chance. It didnt' work out. I'll live with it. If you watch a game and see a guy throwing sliders way out there and see the catcher block them all night without picking them for the most part, then you take your chance when you know a slider is coming and see it go to the dirt. If he doesn't pick it cleanly, Kramer gets to second safely. it's not like it was the first ball to go in the dirt all night. They saw that exact pitch 15 times before this one.

The ball in the dirt was expected and a straight steel he would have been safe but it looked like Kramer had already made his mind up if the ball has a downward trajectory I am going.

correct. hell they probably talked about it in the dugout before that inning. Kramer, Cole, Antoine, if any of them got on and saw a count that was conducive to a slider being thrown and they saw it was going to be in the dirt, then take off the second you see it going to the dirt. The probability of getting to second safely was in our favor on that pitch, just didnt' work in our favor on that particular play b/c of the clean pick and good throw by the catcher. Just tip your hat to him and move on. We'll be safe on the next 3 just like that.

A ball in the dirt read and a ball that is thrown in the dirt that kicks away are two different things. Anyone can get to second on the latter. I haven't seen it done well very much from this team. Not the way I believe it should be executed.

Kramer broke well after the ball hit the dirt. I speculate that he was still thinking about the opportunity the other night when he didn't break for second on a ball in the dirt that the catcher could not find.

Either way, it was not executed nearly the way it should have been. Any coach that practices that should be upset with that effort.

"One too many base running mistakes tonight....".......PLUS---a HC'ing brain fart in the T4th and KR screwing up that foul ball out he made......

Actually feel very good about tonite & tomorrow nite------with the pitching available & less screw ups(lol hopefully).......

With coaches that are out in space in situations,a player is on his own, so going to second was correct. How many perfect throws ever happen on a ball hit in that spot? Scared people can't win but aggressive people do. This was a fluke.

Kramer has had to many "blonde moments" in this series already. The boy hardly ever sets his feet to throw. The foul ball he caught and threw home was a throw hoping to make espn highlights. He never had a chance without setting his feet to make a clean delivery. And the steal after the catcher picks out of the dirt; that was terrible.
