On the other hand, we have more spots to fill on an annual basis than other teams, which makes it tougher to put a consistentyly great product on the field.

It goes beyond that. The returning players are not only more experienced but a year older. This is a huge difference when talking about 21 and 22 year olds.

I believe one of the reasons for out players leaving early is the number of freshmen that make our 2 deep depth chart. By the time they are juniors they have been playing for 3 years and are ready to go. Alabama's players are just starting to see the field as a junior. For example, two years ago my son looked at the 2 deep depth chart for Alabama and LSU. If I recall correctly, Alabama only had 3-4 underclassmen and LSU had something like 15. This is what has to change in order to become competitive.

It is probable that they're cheating...there are too many coincidences.

And I do believe all of the top schools skirt rules where they can to gain an advantage. The issue is that, if any of them were doing it on the scale that Bama is, they'd get fricked by their conference and the NCAA.

What benefits are being provided by Alabama to keep top draftable players from leaving early?

I don't know. They're already driving the Camaro.

labama has had 29 players drafted by NFL teams in the past three years, more than any other school. Yet only 11 of those players—around 38%—left college early. For the five next closest schools in terms of NFL draftees over the past three years—Clemson, UCLA, Ohio State, Florida and LSU combined—that figure is 59%.

A lot of this is probably due to coaching uncertainty. Miles was on the hot seat for 2 years followed by a questionable hire. Hopefully after this season Coach O is more established , and that should provide some stability and help guys stick around. It has already helped with recruiting.

Florida and UCLA are in that same boat.

Here’s what we need:

1. Bagmen
2. LSUEC to replace REC
3. 20 shadow staff
4. New AD and fire FKA
5. .....should I say it? No.

You want an LSU Elephant Club?

How about we counter their Red Elephant Club with our own Purple and Gold Tiger Club?

they had to play Georgia, Alabama, LSU, A&M, Auburn, Florida, etc, week after week.

Probably but then again no one actually plays that schedule, even in the SEC

It's almost like we have people here who aren't really LSU fans.

We do, and TD has no strategy to weed these out. I'm convinced this website is used against LSU.

Their roster is so stacked with high dollar talent that not a lot of freshman are getting to play. Some are but not a lot. Some of these players have to work 2 yrs to see the field and hence when they do get to play they need two yrs to prove themselves.

“I’ll take experience any day over a five-star freshman,” said Clemson defensive coordinator Brent Venables. “Experience is just something that you can’t coach or teach.

What’s funny about this is that Lawrence and Wilkins both started as 5 star freshmen.

So basically he’d prefer Experienced 5 stars to freshmen 5 Stars. Thanks coach

When you’re winning or you feel like a championship is going to happen it makes it easier to come back one more year.

People forget that Mingo, Montgomery, Logan and Monter were all draft eligible after 2017 (RS Sophmores) and all came back another year.

you don't get seniors to come back and then get to the playoff.

The seniors come back when they know they will get to the playoff.

They come back when they get a half million dollar check to come back. Don't be an idiot.

I married a Clemson Tiger and have been going to games for over 15 years. I watched Tommy Bowden then rejoiced over the Dabo hiring. They played for Dabo from day one!

That being said, Clemson has only recently gotten the quantity of stud players - with some exceptions. They have however always focused on OL/DL and character in establishing their depth. Their (former) 3/4-star guys were 22-23 years old and man-handled 18-19 year olds. Now they are getting a higher quantity of quality and have the Bama situation of quality depth. We don't have as far to climb as Clemson did.

This is where they get so dangerous. At Nebraska, Devaney and Osborne virtually mandated that any OL that they were reciting would be headed for a redshirt.

It did two things by the time they were ready to play.
1. They knew the playbook/scheme
2. Their body was more ready simply by waiting just one year to be tossed into the rotation.

It worked pretty well. Alabama is in the position to now let their frosh steep for a year since the two or three in front of him are 4-5 stars just like him. . The guy in front of him is amazing. Then he goes pro and you are left wondering how the next man up can possibly be as physical. But they have put themselves in good shape by stacking the amount of talent at almost every position, where good talent actually begets more talent/ability/skill.

It shows in the W/L record.

Actually Auburn gets pretty close to it next year.

A&M, Mississippi State, Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama.

Not to mention opening up against Oregon.

Insane.
