Ole Miss Expected Crowd on Campus

Multiple people on WBRZ are reporting that they expect 350K on campus for the game. Does anyone apply a reasonable test before they relay BS. Oxford is in the middle of nowhere. 75 miles from Memphis and 165 from Jackson. Their stadium only holds 65K. LSU in the BR metro + NO 65 miles away. Stadium holds 102K. You go out 165 miles you include Lafayette metro and MS gulf coast. On LSU biggest games ever in Tiger stadium. Mostly Bama. The estimated crowd on campus has been around 250K. WBRZ needs to do better.

Just a sea of people
I’ve never been a big Grove person for a few reasons
Huge crowds like this give me anxiety and also once you break the seal , you’ve gotta hunt down portapotties and wait in line for those and once you get back to the tent and you’re right back to the pisser .
It’s really not fun once it gets this crowded. Plus it’ll be hotter than hell too. Hard pass for me.
But enjoy everyone ! cold chicken tenders await !
Edit: these massive weekends it suxks, you can’t really go eat anywhere and everywhere is so damn crowded and the few bars that we have will be high cover /shoulder to shoulder . Just not an enjoyable experience on game weekends .
I will say a hidden gem is the penny bar underneath Moe’s bbq. You can get there from upstairs or walk down the hill .
Great bartenders there and a divey spot away from the monstrosity of the library .
Edit 2: Ajax while it used to be a really good restaurant and fairly famous .. they sold it recently and the quality has dropped off a cliff. Hate to say it but it sucks now. Just an FYI for those trying to get in there

Think about how they came up with that number.
An average crowd for a normal games + LSU fans travel well, + extra hillbillies who want to be part of the excitement = an over exaggerated number.
Doubt it’s anywhere near tree fiddy. Sounds like a troll guess.

350k? Holy sensationalism.
The stadium holds 64k. The campus is designed for 25ish. 350k would quite literally shut down every piece of infrastructure within 20 miles.

150K would be over twice stadium capacity and would still gridlock Oxford. Probably still be the biggest ever at Ole Miss.

Talked to an Ole Miss alum this afternoon. He told me 400K.

How many are on LSUs campus for a big game?

Anyone who remembers 2003 knows how massive that game was. This was a time when Ole Miss had not had even close to a winner since Vaught days. I wasn’t there but I was told there were a shite ton of folks there. I think it was 200K. Probably inflated but LSU easily holds that for a big game. Who really knows?
Is Donald going to the game? Oxford is an absolute nightmare (second only to Little Rock parking and leaving) to escape from for a normal game. 47 shows up? Coupled with the insanity?

The town is hardly recognizable from 23 years ago. So much outward growth .
It is not built to handle weekends like this sadly. Hope you all pack your patience, you’ll need it . Jackson Avenue will be bumper to bumper from campus and the square to the highway .

They’ve had 200k plus before. A lot stay and watch from their tailgates. I can see another 50-75k show up because of the hype. I don’t see 350k.

BR-Nola-Northshore is 1.5 million
Lafayette-LC is another 500k
Where in the hell will Oxford attract 350k from ? Tupelo ? Batesville? Clarksdale?

With that much traffic, I’m sure they’ll all leave at the half regardless of the score to beat the traffic right?

Oxford is 27K excluding the university students. 2026 estimate for metro including the students is 72K. Keep in mind that very little population in north MS. Biggest cities are Tupelo and Columbus. In that part of the state Ole Miss splits fan base with "cow bell hell". Tupelo in the middle. Columbus closer to Starkville. Not knocking what should be a great game day experience, but your smoking crack if you think you're going have close to 200K at the game. Geography and population doesn't support it. LSU with a lot more population and larger tailgating area the grove pulls 250k for the biggest games.
