I remember him playing with his broken arm in a cast and running his arse off. I have to say that was quite amazing to me.

"Running his arse off"....till I believe it was Mike Anderson caught up with him & basically laid him down on the ground. While no fan of him or Eli, it's hard to imagine what his passing yards per game would have been in today's offenses. But don't kid yourself, he has zero love for LSU.

Seem I remember he had to get "permission" to play that game with the "soft" cast.

It was a big game for many reasons:
1. It was Ole Miss
2. Archie was coming back after missing half the season with a broken arm.
3. It was the lose to OM the previous year that cost LSU an undefeated season and a chance to play for the NC
4. ABC had the game moved to early December to showcase Archie.

After all of that, the game wasn’t even close…62-17 I think.

I was at his coming out party. Tiger Stadium 1968. He threw the winning touchdown pass in the same spot Bert Jones would throw to Brad Davis four years later.

Very close. 61-17.
I was at that game and the boos were deafening, but towards the end instead of booing Archie, the fans started cheering him. Playing with one arm in a cast and the game hopelessly out of reach, he still played as hard as he did at the beginning. No quit in that man, as I guess people could see when he played for the saints.

I was a freshman living in north stadium . We made a stuffed effergy of manning with a cast and hung it out of the window. With a sign go to hell ole miss.
That was the good old days. We had a lot of fun tha t semester.

I was at the 1970 game. Ole Miss fans were in the lower south endzone. Tiger fans were setting fire to rebel flags that Ole Miss always handed out in those days and dropping them on the rebel fans. Also whiskey bottles being hurled down on them. It was a crazy atmoshere.

I remember. Many people were saying that LSU didn't try to hurt him when he played with that cast on.
