OL isn't that good. They just had one of most dynamic QBs to ever play CF last year

Defenses last year had no idea what to do. Watch the RB, watch the QB, is he handing it off, or is he keeping, if he keeps does he bounce outside? between tackles? If he passes do we keep a spy because he has ability to run at any given moment for big yardage?

Can't all out attack because ability for JD to bounce outside or pull back and pass.

We now get to see how the OL is with a more predictable offense, and it wasn't good.

I would argue that they are pretty exceptional in pass pro. They struggle in run blocking.

We ran the same running plays over and over Sunday night. We have got to mic it up and come up with some innovative ways to run the ball. The slow developing run plays only work so many times. I actually found my self wanting to run iso from the Miles days and have our linemen put their hands in the dirt and geaux!

They’re solid in pass protection. I understand people want to run the football and are pissed about it but USC was stacking the box the entire night. I wish we would’ve implemented more outside runs maybe some jet sweeps. Run towards our strength and not straight up the gut behind a freshman.

It used to bother me to see JD pull it down and run early, now I know why.

The 2 book ends still need some work at run blocking.

Pass blocking is really good. Run blocking is putrid. It actually looks as if they’re pass blocking during run plays. It’s a mixture of scheme and botched execution, so Brad Davis needs to adjust something because I refuse to believe they don’t have the ability to create gaps for the running backs.

OL last year didn't have to be great, not when you had a QB that totally messed with the heads of opposition DC's. You can't sell out on the run like SC did, when you had a QB that could turn disaster into a TD. Not the case this season. LSU exploited SC selling out in the 1st half, but got pig headed about running the ball into 8 man fronts in the 2nd half. I don’t blame the OL at all.

I thought it was weird we didn’t go with any sweeps either. We had success outside and we kept using the presnap motion to set it up. Just never cashed in on it I guess.

I don’t know the actual term for it , but I absolutely hate how our QB frames the ball for what seems like 5 seconds before the rb actually takes it. Is this the term RPO? With Nuss not a threat to run at all it looks to me to give the rb a disadvantage from the get go. In my opinion just give it to the rb immediately.

The tackles are strong . The interior is average .

The OL was excellent in pass protection. Nussmeier wasn't sacked, and only had a few hurries. The run game wasn't good inside. USC won that battle. Another thing that only few have mention is the blocking from the TEs just isn't good. Taylor is, at best, adequate. Pimpton and (presumably) Green are like small forwards trying to block 260lb DEs. It's not their strength.

I think you will see LSU adjust it's run game approach.

Will Campbell stands straight up when pulling and VERY SLOWLY lead blocks for RB. The RB ran up his arse a few times.

Nuss isn't reading whether or not he should run. He is looking to see if the LB or S or whatever key player is coming up to stop the run because if they do, he will throw it to a WR behind them.

Now if you want to argue that its not worth it and just give the RB the ball then so be it. Just wanted to correct the assumption that the RPO action in this case has anything to do with Nuss running the ball.

I think our pass blocking was exceptional. I agree about the rushing aspect though.

My point is holding the ball out there like a statue for the whole defense to see only gives them more time to react no? I get it if Nuss is going to pull it and run but he doesn’t.
