All I'm saying is be careful with the "Texas isn't that good on defense" talk. If you look at the final numbers, sure they gave up 340 yds through the air. However, if you look at the play by play, LTU had less than 250 total yds midway through the third qtr, and did not start moving the ball significantly until they were already down 38-0. They did not score until the 4th qtr. the majority of their yardage and all their points came in garbage time vs. the 2's and 3's. I think we match up well, but UT isn't just trash on defense. Todd Orlando is a good DC and he'll have a good plan.

Yimbeaux makes important points here which should temper any ideas that we will run over Texas like we did Ga. So.

I think most are just confident that we’ll win not really that we’ll blow them out.

I expect a game similar to the ND/Louisville game last night. 38-24 or so

Why do you keep bringing up our game vs tech last year?

We had no fricking pass rush last year and Tech also completed a couple of prayers that should’ve been broken up.

It’s a new year.

Because that game didn’t define our season as a defense and neither does Texas’s performance against tech.

Actually it did. We pretty much sucked the whole year as far as getting to the QB.

IF we had a pass rush they would’ve had maybe 100 fewer passing yards.

We finished 26th in passing yards given up last season.

Seems like it didn’t hurt us as much as you want to think

I have no additional information to add to this thread. I will say I am seriously overwhelmed and overly excited to what I witnessed Saturday in Death Valley.

I can’t remember being this optimistic for this big a game in a long time.

I agree with this and frankly, it's terrifying.

Man, good thing we are playing Texas this year instead of last year.

It’s still pretty great and enough to contend.

If Texas ends up being a top 25 passing defense, it’s pretty easy to say it’s a tough challenge for our offense.

If you think our offense from this year would dominate our defense from last year then you are next level optimistic.

I see ius blowing them out also. I just can’t see them scoring on this defense bottom line. I don’t see them coming close to stopping the offense either. 38-17 will be the final score.

And no Mike Brockers. That dude was a monster in 2011. He shut down half the LOS.

Tech was way more accurate against Texas than they were against LSU. I would say they had around a 54% comp against LSU and around a 68% comp against Texas.

Honestly, I totally missed your statement on the bottom and just saw the graphic with no explanation.

I must agree with your assessment, the game could be an outlier for Texas like it was for LSU. Last year Tech had the most yards passing in a game of any opponent and the most passing TDs in regulation but second to A&M in the 7OT Game (4 passing TD's in OT).

But history does point to Herman's teams at both Texas and Houston allowing big passing numbers. We shall see.

How many yards did they get against LSU last season?

That was last year, this is this year! You can use comparisons but they just give an indication of the possible future but not a given by any means! This year is more indicative of what will happen this year because it is current!!!

I agree on all points regarding La.Tech. What has not been enough is Tech turned the ball over 3 times and missed 2 FGs... That sure affected their scoring!
