For the record, he has nothing to do with the Latin music the band often plays. That tradition goes waaaay back. Frank Wicks, Linda Morehouse, and now Roy King believed in the idea of doing some shows for the audience, and at least one show for the band. The Latin shows, due to their power and complexity, were the shows for the band. Learning "La Fiesta" on the fly for the Florida game in 2009 was one of the most challenging pieces I ever had in Tiger Band. Songs like "Malaguenia" and "One More Time Chik Corea" will always stick with me.

Then again, my favorite show I played in featured "Vehicle", "Open Up Wide", and "Go Down Gamblin'" "When a Man Loves a Woman" is a close second.

what years were you in band? Also, can we get Don't Stop Believin' and Livin' On A Prayer back? Both are timeless classics and the band played them so well and they got excellent responses from fans...

All 50,000 or so will go nuts. (People are really pissed over the Ole Miss embarrassment) Yep, it should be saved for A+M, but even the attendence for that game may not be very good depending on the outcome of the Alabama game.

BTW kiddies, if all you candy asses screw it up again and spew out that STTDB, yall gonna be in the West Upper Deck next season.

Not only did Frank demand perfection in playing the song right, but he also demanded power. Granted, I was in the band 20 something years ago and really have no idea how Roy is today - but vividly remember how it was back then. I remember many a day early on in the season when we were practicing the gameday songs and Frank would stop us and yell at the horns for "playing like a bunch of pansies". He would have them project to the crowd. That was something that was taught. That's why the band was always loud as hell in the stands. You hear the same thing from Auburn and Bama. Ever notice how loud they are in the stands? It's because they're taught to be that way.

This and all the proof you need to know that the AD does not care about little johnny or little susie's ears. Trust me, STTDB will be in surround sound Saturday night.

Oh-we-oh and Neck are back

For the younger generation, how long has Tiger Rag been banned?

I'm a Junior so I have no clue what vulger chant is said with it.

"Tiger Rag" was played after every LSU touchdown for decades. It had been around since the 1930's at LSU.
~~~~~~~~~~~~THE NINETEEN THIRTIES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
But, sometime in the 2000's, Muffy and Chip from Uptown N.O., Holly and Skip from Metairie, Cecil and Nancy from Walker, and Billy Joe Bob and
Candy from Dry Prong decided it would be hilarious to yell obscenties during the song.
No matter that there were 80,000 other people in the stands, and a potential regional or national tv audience watching.
All that mattered was that they could yell "AH..AH" during the song, then titter and giggle and laugh at each other at how AWESOME DUDE that was and how innovatively creative they were with their incredibly impressive chant.
Then came OWEO and Neck.
Next, hopefully, will be cutting the student section to just graduating seniors and grad students spread out in the upper deck.
And even that probably wouldn't stop the childish, juvenile chants of ADULTS acting like grammar school buffoons for all the world to see.
Sad. Sad that this is what they think of their university.
What the frick? "assholes, assholes" was in Tiger Rag way before the 2000s.
ETA: And go frick yourself for talking about cutting the student section.
High school kids are generally more intelligent and mature than the average LSU student.
started sometime in the 90's, i believe it was done by 2002 or 2003.
There is no way this will continue. if you want a shot, the Reveille better have the front page every day about it coming back and to refrain from the obscenities and other songs could come back...... Ill be willing to take a bet that it will be gone after the first time it is played, though.
I think people are setting themselves up for disappointment thinking STTDB won't happen. I too, hope it doesn't, but I'm pretty skeptical
