Love Coach O, but lost confidence in LSU leadership and decision making. That was arrogant at best and incompetence in reality.

I get that. 2019 would have been a repeat of 2018 with out Brady. Finding Brady was like finding finding a rare baseball card at a garage sale for 25 cents. Ensminger knew he found gold and O bought in.
2020 had it's issues as well all know.
But what does O know to do? "Go back to the Brady offense." Because he relies on old stuff known to work. A mistake, some might say, was the philosophy he used for hiring coaches.
Look, the Brady offense is 'so 2019.' Hell, opposing coaches in 2019 said there was nothing the Brady offense presented they couldn't cover...BUT! the huge difference was the talent on the field made all the difference. We won't repeat 2019 with 'Brady's offense' unless the talent steps up and makes it so.
Coach O is like..."the red car won the race, so we gonna get a red car too."
I was expecting more than that from a head coach.

He just felt like Pelini was a known quantity.

Honestly, I dont See an interview making a difference. Pelini isn’t going to come in and say: I’m gonna have those safeties so confused, and make sure our LBs are so out of position.

Our fans get hung up on the dumbest shite. Was discussed ad nauseam a few months ago. He has since interviewed everyone face to face to fill out his staff and the season is 50 days away. Let it go. It will have nothing to do with how we do this year.
No shite! Can we stop driving around the block to keep running over the same dead squirrel? Dude owned up to a mistake and learned from it. Last year was a perfect storm of "we sucked". Just check yourself and MOVE ON!

Whether the interview would have changed O's mind in hiring Pelini is an interesting question.
Orgeron's comments yesterday suggests he would have hired him anyway. I suspect Orgeron thinks this mitigates the criticism he deservedly gets for not doing an interview. In fact, it creates even more questions about his competence.
Was he really going to hire Pelini based on word of mouth about performance?
What information did O have about Pelini's current ability to deal with people (players and adults alike) which caused friction for years after he left LSU?
How up to date was Pelini on defending emerging Offensive strategies?
Etc.

Give Pelini Delpit, Chaison, Queen, Lawrence, Fulton and Vincent, things would have been different.

Delpit, Queen, et al would have responded favorably to a personality which is nearly universally regarded as abrasive and offensive?

A certain poster will be along shortly to tell us that Bo was all Scot Woodwards fault. That Woodward hired Bo and forced him on Coach O.

What do you think that guy's old screen name was?

It was a mistake that cost LSU at least two wins and a $4MM buyout (out of a $157MM annual budget). O shouldn’t get a free pass, but he shouldn’t be defined by it either.

it's inexcusable unless Woody told O we're hiring Pelini no matter how you feel about it or what you have to say about it

Why do you people keep saying this? You do know that it wasn't randomly brought up here, correct?

It will be "let go" when Orgeron stops talking about it.

And that theory makes zero sense considering ed was coming off a natty and the AD was brand new and has no past reputation of doing that

not my theory, I've seen that posted on here before though, it's inexcusable for a program at this level to not do due diligence from top to bottom, down to the smallest detail

It is inexcusable.
And Orgeron yesterday said he would have hired him no matter what an interview revealed.
The competence and diligence of your HC is not "water under the bridge" or "spilled milk".
The issue is relevant every day to LSU football fans who care about the direction of the program.

absolutely, and even though O is being given a lot of latitude for 2019, and Covid ramifications aside for last year, that was a reckless and irresponsible thing to do, oh well, it was only a few million dollars and we can afford to throw that and a complete season away because we're too busy to do our jobs
