Offseason thoughts at my desk---The real reason why Tiger Stadium is not what it use to be

The south endzone extension
The new scoreboards look nice but adding that South endzone "upper deck" makes the stadium look bad. It doesn't even go with the rest of the stadium.
In my opinon, they should at least matched the East and West uppers and have more regular seats than club level.

So you think the architecture is the problem? Not the piped in music, attendees leaving early, or shitty overpriced concessions?

Didn’t know McDonald’s allowed phones in the workplace.
It’s looks great IMO. You’re right on top of the action sitting up there. Gives it an outdoor arena feel. Never had issues when I sat up there two years ago.

If anything doesn’t “go” with the stadium it’s the west upper?

YEA, that's the reason
Has nothing to do with Shitty concessions or the Price of tickets/TAF getting way out of hand. That pushed a lot of Fans away, this is LSU not Alabama. LSU fans aren't going to take out a second mortgage on the single wide for season tickets.

I up voted....but I didnt mean to. The overall environment has been declining long before the new expansion.
Raising prices and long overdue fan area renovations have more to do with it. LSU and JA have been pricing out the fans for a while, it was almost bareable when there was a good product on the field. That hasn't been the case lately.

You’re exaggerating. Don’t blame it on the way the stadium is designed. It’s the team and coach. If they were dominating everybody you wouldn’t think this.

Not the piped in music
What was really cool was last year the first few games it was awful with the music and you could tell. Then there was a huge campaign on Tigerdroppings begging whoever at the AD saw this to relay the message to cut it out. Then for the Auburn game the atmosphere was like a switch had flipped. Of course the big comeback helped but it was worlds different and more traditional feeling.
It is just mind boggling how LSU keeps shooting themselves in the foot with fan experience when they have one of the most trafficked message boards in sports to get a feel for what an incredibly diverse amount of Tiger fans would like to see at the games. The music issue also isn't one that they sacrifice in place of money (I assume). It costs them nothing to create an atmosphere with more Tiger Band and less speaker music.

piped in music
Almost every stadium in the country uses piped in music. Auburn off the top of my head has it and that place is rocking in the Fall.

Aramark is fricking garbage

What a whiny fan base we've become.

I blame the generation in charge for ruining Tiger football, as well as the entire country.

From an architectural standpoint, the easy and west upper decks are an abortion.
The inside of the stadium is bine but the outside looks like someone dropped a shitty office building on a cool colliseum.
Besides the big blank wall (how bout a mural or banner Alleva) the new addition much more captures the original stadiums design.

I get that you fill some time but the band should be leading the atmosphere. Not bitch I'm from Louisiana and whatever other random rap and pop shite they want to throw in there.

I actually dream of the day Tiger Stadium is completely a two-tier bowl, and the largest stadium in the world.
And FILLED for all home games, for four quarters.

Nothing against the upper deck...but tiger stadium was just better when it was the old bowl....you knew every home game was going to be on Saturday night and tv was pretty muchjust a few games.
There wasn't as much tailgating outside but it was super easy to get liquor inside the stadium...they rarely ever checked even in the student SECTION gates
I think it was just a different culture back then..there wasn't much else do in baton rouge except go to the game

I knew someone who smuggled bourbon into Tiger Stadium, in the case of a 35 mm camera!

Get back to work.

We live in a different age now. Everywhere I go to games fans claim their stadium is not what it used to be. This includes Tuscaloosa, Athens, Gainesville, et al.
Maybe we are too focused on LSU-specific reasons for our attendance problems and don't pay enough attention to how society has changed.
