With roster limit gone, can we get CJ Willis back? Really just want to see what he can offer.

Looking at his twitter feed, you'd never know he was in the portal. I'd love to see him stay.

Summer League baseball kicks off tomorrow for some of our guys. The South Florida Collegiate League has their opening day. Doughty, Cranford, Beloso, DiGiacomo, Arnold, Milazzo, and Kaminer are all scheduled to play in the league.

The SECL based out of Baton Rouge and Mississippi is supposed to start up soon as well. Maybe Monday or something. Brooks Rice will be playing in the Mississippi division and Will Safford will be in the Baton Rouge division. Safford was originally scheduled to play for the Danville Dans in the Prospect League.

I wouldn't if I were him.

Also, I think Mainieri said on the radio yesterday that both Beck and George were expected to return.

I'm just glad this stuff happened after Jake Mangum got drafted. That dude would be on like his 10th season at MSU.

After the draft, with the assumption that every player taken will sign, we are at 42 players on the roster. The coaches have mentioned a soft cap of 40.

Starting on Monday, UDFAs can sign for $20k.

I wonder how those 2 grad transfer catchers going to Arkansas feel now that Opitz didn't get drafted.

Project what's your feeling on some of these lower tier incoming freshmen? I'm going down a depth chart and some of these kids won't hardly see any time for quiet awhile assuming no more roster movement from underclassmen.

Obviously Mainieri's in a win now mode which he should be, my hope is some are pushed to find more stable playing time at smaller schools against persuading older kids to sign to make room.

Pm may have jumped the gun on his player exit interviews
I may have kept walker and Willis but I agree with the other decisions
You still are going to have that roster crunch a year from now as well when it goes back to 35 but LSU is going to lose a ton of pitching next year
I’m glad Bianco came back
I still think he has potential
Not sure why he’s struggled so much at the plate
You still might have to worry about guys like storz, labas due to their injury history but I think both come back as well as Garza as he will still get a lot of time behind the plate

I admittedly don't follow nearly as closely as many of you. Are both Henry and Cabrera gone? I remember hearing on the radio re: Henry that if he didn't go in the top 12 of the second round that some people thought he may come back. Looks like he went about 16 picks into the second round?

ETA: I'm guessing the Nats and Tigers wouldn't have posted on Twitter about drafting them if they didn't agree to terms. So I suppose I answered my own (stupid) question

Walker was never going to pitch meaningful innings here again

Do you know for sure that they were told to look elsewhere? Maybe they just didn't see much playing time in their future and wanted to seek other options.

There is only one position player freshman that I don't see contributing at LSU.

The lowest rated pitchers were also the most recently added, so I don't know what to think there. They would have been the most recent evaluations, so they saw something there they liked.

Yes, they're both going to sign.

A UF poster on the secrant mentioned that Florida is at 48 right now after the draft. I can't even imagine the cuts O'Sullivan is going to have to make eventually.

If I read the stuff right he will not have to make any, correct? Just the scholarship money would have to be stretched thin, or some would have to go without. I wouldn't cut anybody if I didn't have to. Let it play out in practice and some of them will likely cut themselves.

Correct and many will likely transfer out during the next 6 months. Not enough playing time to go around.

I saw Mizzou's coach talking about having 50 guys on campus for the fall. That's just bullshite. Even with guys getting an extra year and a shorter draft and everything, that's shitty for those players. They're taking away the opportunity for a lot of them to find a landing spot somewhere else by not being up front with them.
