sorry Project, but when Kendall Rodgers confuses his team's participant's ribbon with a tie for the gold medal...no. And Kenny, inviting yourself to share the podium doesn't make you a self-proclaimed winner, just self-proclaimed.
Agreed
Him praising his beloved aggies for a top 20 class in the same breath as LSU’s class is laughable
Even more comical is you had schloss fan boys on here praising him

I'm around the same. I just don't know if the three JUCO guys from last year (Gervase, Merrifield, and Bollman) count as COVID year guys or not.
Posted on 7/19/22 at 9:02 am to ProjectP2294
I would think they do. They were all listed as RS Juniors on LSU rosters. Would assume that takes into account the covid year in JUCO and it would apply to them. IF not then Johnsons job will be even more complicated.

Yeah, caught that after typing out the previous reply. When I saw NYC rents mind went straight to the Yankees. Kid is also from Troy, NY, why would he move to NYC as a minor league player?

Point still stands though.
And now housing is going to be provided by the org for minor leaguers in most cases.
Additionally, he's going to get an overslot deal.

Maybe someone was confused with Tebrake (NYM)?

Looks like 48 total with 6 of them being covid Sr
Which 6 do you have there...I've got Merrifield, Gervase, Beloso, Dugas, Bollman and Pineda?
I would imagine Bollman is probably out, since we can only count 5 to the +5 to get to 40. He was left off the official 40 man roster last year too, right?

That is the 6 I have. Bollman was injured last year, that is why he wasn't on the roster.
I don't know which one would be left off, but I would probably lean Merrifield. Didn't show much last season and is not doing well in his summer league. Doesn't have anything that stands out in his game. He is hitting .233 and has 10 hits in summer league with no extra base hits.
Plus you can never have too many arms. They have more than enough IF if it falls out as expected.

It would be between Bollman and Merrifield. I was excited about Bollman before the injury - good stuff, starting experience, etc. Gonna have a buttload of pitchers, though. Much less depth in the infield. I guess we could keep both, but 1 would count against the 35.

This is what I was thinking. We only lose Reyzelman, Hilliard, Vietmeier, Fontenot and Fowler (portal) as far as RHP goes.
So 5 RHP out.
Then we have:
Hurd (Portal)
Little (Portal)
Shores
Bucknam
Moffett
Siravo
Applebey
On their way in which is 7 adds to RHP.
Seems like we could use the infield depth with Merrifield over another RHP. Especially after losing Doughty, Bianco, Safford, Cranford, Holt and Berry. Guidry, Noot, Pineda and Young are the only infield adds in the class. So 5-6 losses in INF (Depending how you count Bianco) vs. 4 adds.
Granted some tough conversations will be had with the incoming class as well.

I'm glad Gervase is coming back, but if next year is his 5th year, he'll have no leverage. Why would he come back? Am I missing something?

How can a kid from Air Force transfer this far into school? Wouldn’t he have to get out of a military contract?

You have 2 years to transfer out. He's been there for 2 years, so now is the last chance he has.

This is his last opportunity to transfer before having to fulfill the military contract. If he stays at Air Force into his junior year, he has to fulfill the service requirements.

Gotcha… thanks for that info. Makes sense. I figured they’d be locked in at some point but didn’t know when

He values the college life. Some are smart enough to know they won't be in the majors for 10-12 years.

Well he didnt get drafted in the Top 10 rounds and money will be pretty peanuts from here on out in the draft so might as well come back. There's always a chance he balls out even more and becomes a top 10 round pick even with no leverage and maybe gets a little more money.
Any pick from now that they offer over $125k to it gets deducted from their bonus pool for top 10 rounds so you dont see many 11th round guys and beyond get particularly decent bonus amounts.
Last year 2 guys after round 10 got over $1M, a few guys got $300k-$400k, but most everyone else got $125k give or take. Every player that got $300k or more was a high school player except 2 guys.
