I think its more about the signing bonus $$ than where they are drafted. If a mlb team really wants a guy they draft in later rounds (11-20), they can throw a lot of bonus $$ at them to sign. Each team has a bonus pool of $$ for draftees. For rounds 11-20, teams can offer $125,000 per draftee without having to dip into the bonus pool. So for teams with 10+ million in bonus $$, they can offer a nice sum to some of those guys drafted. in rounds 11-20.

i've been watching on mlb.com and it has been fine. Just very slow

I still remember when team used to phone in their picks and the draft would go on until the last team decided they didn’t want to draft anymore players.
