Also pick number 17 signed for $600,000 over slot.(not a Brewers pick, just a FWIW)

The reason would be the compensation they would get with losing Turang compared to Gray. If they like Turang enough they won’t care about that tho

Brewers 10th rounder Hintzen signs for $10,000 (slot was $138,000)

As we figured, they are putting the screws to the college seniors.

IK it has little inmpact on Turang but Rasmussen seems interesting to me that he hasn't signed yet...it could have something to with his health but could he really be playing hardball with the Brewers as a senior? It probly would pretty stupid but this late he may have worked himself into a tad bit of leverage.

I think Rasmussen's deal is that even though he's a senior and hurt, he's still on Oregon St's team, so he's not negotiating until their season ends. I wouldn't read anything else into that. He's not going to get much money, IMO.

What are the chances Turang sticks to his guns and doesn't sign for less that $4.5 million (This was his demand, right) IYO?

5% or so?

I think they're going to get a deal done. It may be for less than $4.5. But I don't think either side wants to let a few hundred thousand cause a deal to not get done.

You would assume. I remember reading right after they drafted brice that someone near the top of their organization like the GM had known brice for a couple years and were very familiar with him. So they were excited to get him. So it always seemed like a long shot.

Yeah I forgot those clowns were still playing so your probly right...I was thinking he might be trying to squeeze them for a few more thousand instead of not signing at they lose the entire 250K slot at this point albeit highly stupid and unlikely.

I don't want to read through the thread to find it again, but slot is $3.5, correct?

I think it's safe to assume he ends up signing for $3.8 or so in the end.

ETA: It was in the OP. I'm a lazy bitch.

Slot is like 3.1. He will prob end up getting around 3.75, which i dont think many will blame him for signing for

I was getting my hopes up just a bit, but the Brewers seem to be in a good position to sign him for up to 4 million, if they want to.

They are going to get him. They know what they’re doing.

Yeah, both sides played the cards right here

Brewers grabbed the seniors to massively undersign and Turang/rep have been silent other than high price tag with LSU leverage.

They sure did....Just playing everything out if the 9th round pick signs for slot and Rasmussen get 10K the Brewers would have just under 4.9M left to sign both Gray and Turang.

If Gray signs for slot Turang would be left with 3.8 for them so stay within their pool and 4.1 if they want to use the 5% overage.

I highly doubt Gray will sign for enough over slot to make it happen for us if the word is he will sign for atleast slot value.
