Mainieri names Sciambra in CF (leadoff) and Laird in RF (2-hole) opening night. DH likely Edward or Moore depending on hand of opp. pitcher
I nailed it

Whats the word on Scambria from this last fall and his hitting? I know he's healthy, but in 22 games last year he only hit .246. Small sample maybe, but can this guy be our everyday CF and hit at least .300?

Scambria was coming around before the injury last season. I could definitely see him hitting .300 this season.

He started the season really slow and was actually starting to play real well when the injury happen. He will be better than what we had in centerfield last year for sure.

2009 team was friggin stacked. I wouldn't compare this team or really any future LSU teams to it.

Before comparing the 09' team to the 13' team we must realize the 09' group was one of the top five most talented teams ever at LSU. They had dominant starters, deep bullpen, veteran leaders, power, speed, and a closer in his prime.
Another note is the bats from 09' and 13' are nothing alike.
This years group has the "potential" to be great. IF IF IF guys like Sciambra, Laird, and Ibarra hit at least for average this team could be special and go deep into the tournament.
Pitching is a push. I want to see how guys step up. What I like about the current team is they have a great 1&2 punch plus a utility guy in Cotton, something the 09' squad didn't even have. Remember Coleman was the 2nd starter at times...
Comparing the lineup, hands down 09' wins.
Athletically, hands down the 13' wins.
If you were to put these teams up against each other I'd say the 09' team wins 7 out of 10 times.

I need a parking pass and 4 tickets in the grandstand for this series.

I think 2013 has the edge at 3B, SS, 1B, C and in the bullpen. If Jones lives up to the hype, then the expectation is LeMahieu type production (mid .300s BA with a handful of homers). That said, 2009 was so much better in the OF and Coleman was not human.
