What bothers me is why didn't we do that this/last year!! If ZM is good enough to be the starter next/this year, then why wasn't he good enough to start over JJ and JL?
Boom! That is the $1,000,000 question!

JJ is awesome but the coaching staff (no matter who that is) was keeping a lid on his greatness
JJ and JL are far from awesome, but they could have been put in situations where they, or more importantly the offense, could have been more successfull. I'm hoping that we see that next season with a QB that has legitimate NFL caliber potiential and that this 'change in offense philosphy' actually takes place.

Came back after Tebow crapped the bed yesterday because it helps your JJ=Tebow pitch, since they both sucked in big games on national TV?
Isn't that the truth. Hadn't thought of that point, but it's true that they both sucked in the big game on national TV.

stubborn SOB, gotta give him that, i guess.
hard for me to have faith in anything he says about this. seriously, how could he be so damn stupid? as time moves on, his judgment to switch to jj from jl - w/o mixing the two together - is bordeline retarded.
for him to be so good in so many areas (and i do think he's very, very good and don't want him gone at all, i love the guy), but have an absolute failure on this point is mind boggling.

"offensively, there will be a definite switch in philosophy"Miles said similar shite last year and we see what it got this team. Only way this happens is if Miles completely gets out of the playcalling and he's too arrogant and selfish to do that. We'll likely go from 2:1 runs to pass like 5:3 run:pass and Les will claim we changed philosophy.
man, can you imagine how good our running attack would be next year if we forced the defense to defend an offense throwing the ball 30-35 times a game ? the play action could be a thing of beauty, and might even approach pds per game of recent years.

n opportunity to be more balanced, pass-run combination, than we were in the back end of the season.
Gee, wonder why that was? Is he really that clueless, or does he just think the fans are?
That's the ridiculous shite about this.
The fricker CAUSED the "back end of the season" to happen and then cites it as something that we'll hopefully get away from next year.
What the frick is that!?!?!?!
I mean hell, merely him referring to the "back end of the season" as a problem in this area is an admission that the "front end of the season" was NOT.
Hmmmm. Hey there you fricking low character coach. Why do you suppose that was???
Posted on 1/15/12 at 12:14 pm to CRNA-KA
maybe because ZM s being carefully groomed and
putting him in prematurely could screw up his
development . JL wasnt ready and look at what he had to overcome , which he did .

You continue to be severely out of line.
You and your ilk bitch and moan about miles not saying anything. He comes out and basically admits that things need to change which is what y'all wanted him to say the whole time. Then you guys rip him to shreds for saying it. If I was miles, I wouldn't say shite. Especially because overly emotional people like you can't handle it.

and we couldn't do that with mett?
The rumors about why he didn't play as much this year are out there. One is from a pretty solid source.
I'm not one who spreads such things, but I'll share it for a few seconds, if you want.

not many, if any coaches would have started him over two experienced senior QB's, but hind sight being 20/20, he should have started. If the coaches truely believed that JL/JJ are so bad that you can't let them throw down the field often enough to loosen up defenses, then yes, Mett should have been starting from game one.

This because the admission actually ADMITS that he KNEW and RECOGNIZED that the JJ version of the offense was a fricked up version but refused to change. Hence, this indicated the whole "he thought JJ was the best option" line or argument is null and void leaving the only other choice that for some retarded reason, he just fricked JL for non-football reasons. Hence, THAT shite is low character given what JL did for him.
There is nothing emotional about not thinking low character treatment of a player is a good thing just cause a guy wins 13 games.
Winning and character are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS.

what's really disturbing is that he doesn't seem to understand or admit a problem until it costs us a huge game or a whole season
Posted on 1/15/12 at 12:33 pm to ShortyRob
I'm willing for now to take his word for it and that as Shep said that next year will be an "air show."
But, if we don't see a lot more vertical passing with Mett, then I'm going to start calling for Miles to step down.

"It's gonna be like getting a Maserati when you turn 16. I really think our offense can be special."
Listening to WR Odell Beckham Jr....
"Me and Zach always talk about next year," Beckham said last Friday. "Zach wants to break a lot of records.
"One of the things I really about him is he's not afraid to take a risk. He also really does have a cannon for an arm."
"I used to 'juice' everything." He also said he's realized he has to be quicker with his decisions thanks to his time on the Tigers practice field this year.
"If you're a split-second too late on a timing route, (Claiborne and Tyrann Mathieu) are gonna jump it."

I'm taking him at his word too.
"We need two QBs because their skill sets compliment each other".
"We'll be more open than at the 'back end of the season'"
The man is TELLING YOU by his ACTIONS that the first crap he was telling you was a LIE
AND
He is TELLING YOU with the second line of crap that he KNEW that "back end of the season" was fricked up and yet STILL didn't abide by HIS WORDS in the first line of crap.
The man is TELLING YOU he was a liar and by extension, he is TELLING YOU that his arse rape total disrespect of JL was NOT a football decision.
HE IS ADMITTING IT TO LSU FANS and they aren't seeing it.
So, yeah. We do have a guy with winning results. We just have accept he's no better a person than the shitheads we make fun of that other teams have had or still have.

Beckham and Landry are gonna be scary good if Les lets him throw downfield
Posted on 1/15/12 at 12:42 pm to boxcar willie
As I keep saying, EVERY QB recruit that comes through the program don't suck. I truly believe the root of the problem is QB DEVELOPMENT.
We should have a QB this year who has already attained a level of development.
Miles had better change the offensive philosophy next year, or the whole fanbase is going to be calling for his departure.

If he doesn't then the offensive recruits WILL dry up going forward.
The past few years, players could be fooled into believing it was just a QB problem. If, after JJ and JL are gone, we run the same "scared as frick" offense, you wont be able to get a decent WR within a thousand miles of BR. THEN, he'll have the "no good WRs" excuse to go with his "no good QBs" excuse.
