I guarantee we are not finishing last in the SEC this year, and right now I will take that!

Dude paid players stupidly and was a horribly overrated in game coach.

You thinking of Football? 37 wins vacated.
How do you feel about that?

Do you have proof Wade paid players? Better call IARP, they couldn't find it.
Were any Basketball wins vacated?

Going to take another coach with a lot of personality and charisma that can get the fans fired up and interested again. Basketball has always been the stepchild in Louisiana and needs a cheerleader, unlike most of the other sports. Mulkey made women's basketball a thing just by strength of her personality which led to good recruiting.

take the field.

just getting one of the 4 semi slots will be a great accomplishment.
beat bama again.
get past all but one of several good teams on the schedule.
do way better vs Georgia if not actually win.

get through the sec champ game with health.

they will not be favored to beat bama or Georgia.

I presume you’re joking, right? If not, suffice it to say pretty low to nil based on what we’ve seen so far on the court and on the recruiting trail. In fact chances of a winning season are not much better, in my opinion.

McMahon is a little known coach from a small school in a minor conference who inherited a roster of 1-2 very average players and then had to piece it together on short notice and depended on transfers from a mid level conference to come play big boy ball in the SEC. He could be great, but it’s gonna take a lot more than 2 years to fix that train wreck

Nearly the entire roster is turned over by year 2, meaning these are MM’s players. There are no excuses in the NIL / portal era, and you don’t get multiple years to rebuild. Wade won the conference in year 2 without the portal after he inherited a 2 conference win team. And he did it with only 1 player from the prior staff making a significant contribution in year 2.

The reality is MM is a weak recruiter. He’s missed on a lot of good players in the portal and has only landed a 2-3 good players (Williams who followed him from Murray is one of those). If he was a good recruiter, this roster would look a lot different going into year 2. As of now, he’s got to be praying that Cook gets a waiver.
