O seems to be consistently inconsistent

It seems to me O’s tenure has been trademarked by consistently atypical coaching decisions. Not necessarily bad decisions, but ones that are just different from typical coaching calls and seem inherently strange.

For example, he campaigns on this pro-style offense with a dual threat QB’s and then brings in Canada with a completely different scheme.

Then he fires Canada a year later: not because of his performance, but because they couldn’t get along. Strange. And then, replaces his guy with a tight ends coaching veteran who hasn’t installed an offense in 20ish years. It could work but is absolutely an atypical approach for hiring an OC. If it works he’s a mad scientist, if it doesn’t... I’ll let you fill in the gap.

Other atypical/strange coaching moves include:
Not having an on-field Special Teams Coach last season.
Firing D Craig as a WR coach and replacing him with an unproven Mickey Joseph.
Hiring a local radio host as his personal PR guy.
Creating what is essentially a second WR coaching position for a 73-year-old coach who refuses to recruit because of the aforementioned WR coach that can only recruit. And then giving him a 1-year 450k contract.
Promoting a grad assistant with no other coaching experience to LB coach.
Hiring Pete Jennings on a monthly basis as a D line coach knowing he’s not a long term fix or a recruiter.
Offering Tua Tagavoila at the 11th hour when we had two relatively high-caliber QB’s committed.

The list goes on.

Not inherently “bad” but atypical and weird. Makes me nervous.

Where’s the stability? What is the vision? It seems to me that neither exist.

tl dr O has no clue what he’s doing.

Great distraction. I forgot about the basketball suspensions for like 3 seconds.

I'd take Tua over both of our QBs every day of the week. Smart move by O

Called it in the other Ed sucks thread that there would be at least one more today. Guess this can't be added to the other thousand.

Neither do. O has said he wants to compete for championships fast, but he doesn’t know how to get there. He has Pete Carroll and Jimmy Johnson call AD’s to say how awesome he is, but O lacks whatever it is that PC and JJ have that enabled them to lead teams to championships. Aranda has the D locked down for now, but what happens if/when he leaves? Yeah, the LSU roster is stocked full of elite talent, but can O convince a top DC to come here and work for him? We all saw this year with the Canada situation that it’s not as easy as “LSU has plenty talent, what coordinator wouldn’t want to coach here?” O just hired a guy as OC that not a single school in the country wanted for the same position. Of course, nobody wanted our HC, either, so there’s that.....

He offered Tua when he thought he was getting Kiffin as his OC. Then Kiffin gave him the finger. It was a stupid move that pissed off Brennan and Narcisse. Then we had to do damage control. He’s in way over his head.

Don't get mad if I'm laughing
Blame the caffeine for all the 5 am phone calls
I haven't slept a single night in over a month
And not even once did you start to make sense to me
Well maybe I'm a little bit slow, or just consistently inconsistent

Disagree. The 2 young QBs we had on roster last year couldn't beat out a pedestrian QB while Tua replaced an all SEC caliber QB and won the national championship game. If you can get that guy, you go get him and you don't worry about hurt feelings. One of the few moves O has made that I agree with.

That's cool. The way I see it, Tua was committed to Bama for at least 7 to 8 months before o offered him a scholarship. I don't believe he was going to break that commitment.

I Guess o thought Tua would follow Kiffin to LSU if he had been hired but his actions (o's) almost cost LSU the two quarterbacks that were already committed to LSU. And if Tua was so tied to the hip to Kiffin, that he would follow him to LSU, why didn't the kid follow him to FAU?

And as far as Brennan and Narcisse not being able to beat out a "pedestrian" QB, how do we really know who was the best QB on the team. If some reports are to be believed, Canada wanted Brennan to get some meaningful playing time and o shot that down.

@Jax11111 what if I told you I can root for LSU without blindly supporting every stupid decision from O. Stop being that man’s cuck

That's a fair point. I guess IMO Tua wouldn't have given them a choice based on what we saw. But, who knows.

Oh, I agree with you about that. IF and it's a big if, Tua would have accepted the offer from o, from what we saw him do in the NC game, he would have given the coaching staff a difficult decision on who to start.
