"You know, Steve's getting older now," Orgeron said. "Joe's 28. They lean on each other. Joe is tremendous in the meeting room. When Steve has a question, Joe always seems to have an answer. They're up in the press box. Steve is calling the plays, but you know what? Joe has the next play ready for him. If he needs Joe, Joe is going to give it to him."

"No question," Orgeron said. "(Brady) does a lot of the stuff a coordinator does today. He's in the office, implements stuff. The guy is very good. Obviously, Steve's going to control the whole offense."

And could Brady's opportunity be seen as an audition for an eventual coordinator position?

"Well, no question," Orgeron said. "I mean, if something ever happens to Steve, Joe would be high to consider as my offensive coordinator. He's that talented."

I can't imagine that this surprises anyone. Joe is the future and the future looks bright.

let's all be grateful that coach E not only stepped up when the school gave the call, but that he does not have a raging ego. This is going to allow for the offense to really work at top efficiency this year, imho.

* Steve Ensminger suffered a terrible accident. He somehow "tripped" going down the stairs from the pressbox. Brady was right behind him when it happened *

Hg assesses the situation, sees the potential for positive enthusiasm and immediately tries to spin it to shite on O/E/program.

That's what you got out of him highlighting that Ensminger's going to be running the offense?

That says more about you than it does about him. You think Ensminger running the offense is some sort of derogatory comment on the program.

Ensminger is 60. He could easily retire or go back to being a passing game coordinator at a high school (where we found him) after we win it all this year.

I don't think this is allowed. A side must be chosen.

Well I was offered a choice between the red pill and the blue pill and instead I punched Morpheus in the face and took both pills.

Steve Ensminger can still call a great game. We all saw it. Some young blood (and if he's the next OC, fantastic), as long as it is talented young blood might be all this offense needs.

Except for a dominant offensive tackle, this offense has literally every other tool even a middling NFL team would want.

(ETA: Yeah, yeah, I know, "Except for that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?")

I mean, sure, other than the fact that he's literally never coordinated an offense before at any level. Assuming he is OC next year, how is he at developing QBs? What is his offensive philosophy and is he capable of altering it to fit the talent on the team? Does O trust him to run the offense or will he meddle at the first sign of trouble?
