At the very least, I’m glad you’ve admitted that you’re an O troll.

9 wins considering the OL was young and had a 3rd string QB starting, he get some at least a B+. Also a RB banged up much of the year.

Les Miles sucked because he won only 9/10

Coach O is 9-4 with a loss to troy at home and blown out by MSU with probably the easiest schedule in over a decade

Beats only two teams with a winning record, one fired that coach

And is hailed for such an accomplishment

Need much better QB play to win more games.

First of all losing badly to Moo St, and to Troy gets him an 'F'

Beating Auburn brings him up to a 'D'

Losing to Notre Dame like he did, drops him to a 'D-'

we just fired a coach for having seasons just like this.
we lost 4 games with the weakest schedule in 2 decades.
5 of our 6 sec wins are against teams with at least 6 losses
3 of our 6 sec wins( arky,uf,tenn) combined for 4 sec wins.

B+??

Jennings and Harris are both worse than him. Better than what we had is still not good. We went from plain saltines to a ritz. But it’s still just a cracker.

So was Flynn ok in 2007? Because Etlings stats THIS season are much better... higher QBR, less INTs by 9. Who can forget the Int at Arky and that Kentucky game.
Again, I’m not saying Etling was all that, but we won a Natty with a quarterback with worse stats...

I'll be kind and give him a C. That's only because it's his first year.

Hard to throw a pick when captain checkdown is too scared to throw it down the field unless he is overthrowing someone down the sideline

hard not to check it down when you’re getting your arse hammered after running for your life. But since you brought this up - and by no means do I believe he is a great QB - he certainly was better than Flynn who won a championship. His stats including QBR, YPA, Total yards passing, completion percent, etc were all better. The YPA was significantly better which is the opposite of YOUR POINT. Anything over 9 is very good... so captain checkdown wasn’t really always captain checkdown CONSIDERING QBR. You can’t look at these stats in a vacuum.
The sacks is what kills him overall. Some of that is on him and a lot on his down and distance situation, receivers getting off, play calling, recognizing blitzes, etc...

Danny Freaking Etling
With all the positive stats he has, amazing how ineffective he could be, due to no protection by OL, slow release, dropped good passes, missed bad passes, bad playcalling by coaches, ditto by DE, dumb penalties by team mates or Bama refs, telegraphing receivers, random other usual execution crap.

Couldn't agree more, without a QB that can make all the throws, the OC doesn't matter.

That is what makes O a much better coach then Miles.

Miles wasn't smart enough to see the problem.

When asked about changing the offense, "The engine is pretty stinking strong".

What an idiot.

Grade
C

Positive
-9 wins
-Won 6 of 7 to close out after Troy loss
-Kept team “together”
-Fought through significant O line issues
-Out of necessity, played a lot of freshmen and it should benefit the program

Negative
-Failure to get 10 wins
-Losses to State and Troy
-Staff in fighting
-Handling of the “Canada Affair”
-Loss to Notre Dame
-Not going for the TD in ND game
-Throwing players under the bus, e.g., kickers, etc.
-Sense that recruiting, while not bad, could be better

The negatives outweigh positives, but I think “C” is reasonable given the 9 wins, regardless of how we got to that number.

Disclaimer: I think the future of LSU football is bleak under the leadership of the current administration and head football coach.
