We need to air it out all year. We got every type of receiver and TE, and can work every area of the field. We got the OL and QB. Work in some shovel passes, screens and jet sweep type stuff in lieu of a running game.

Let it fly, Sloan.

Could not agree more. This board is way too focused on trying to square peg and round hole with running the football. Just embrace the passing game and incorporate jet sweeps and those short swing passes as your run game.

The problem is you gotta be able to run the ball between the tackles somewhat to put good teams away (USC, Ole Miss, Bama, etc.)

Bruh, we are a high efficiency offense that leverages swing routes and short passes as our rushing game at this point. I thought we would have more push, but this offense is still efficient and effective.

If we can get four stops a game, we can be 10-3.

It’s awesome for Nuss. But typically lsu would never have that many passing tds bs Nicholls because we would be running it down their throat

It’s scary we HAD TO THROW, to score

Yep, being in position to have to throw in q4 against a Nicholls is depressing

Yet according to half of tRant, he’s holding the team back and isn’t a good fit in this offense because he isn’t a 4.3 RB who happens to play QB.

If you can spread the field running outside and with the pass and make the defense spread out and cover space, the middle will open up as the game goes on.

Go look at JDs heisman stats. He definitely padded them against shite opponents. I believe he had 6 TDs passing again Georgia State.

They should have done more in my opinion, but remember that screens and jet sweeps usually count as passes, but are supplements to the run game. Those and the outside runs have been are most effective run game by far.

Nuss wasn’t padding stats. Thats the point I’m making

The team needed those passing tds to win

That’s kind of a myth. We put away Texas, Florida, Bama, and Clemson in 2019 by keeping our foot on the gas pedal and running our normal offense, which was extremely pass dominant.

Also if you pass on first down and get to second and five or second and four it becomes much easier to run than when you try to run on first down and get stuffed for second and ten.

good job by nuss thus far. get him to be quicker on pre snap/post snap reads and audibling to hot routes and he will be money. he has the arm and accuracy seems good thus far

Go empty and 5 wide - sling it. If we can’t play defense let’s score 70 a game and Hal Mumme it. One defensive stop and you win.

No one is arguing. LSU is trash on both sides of the ball. I feel sorry for Nuss and the few other elite players on the team. BK should be ashamed of himself fielding that horrible squad.

You’re not reading this correctly, the criticism is of the running scheme — not the QB.

Nuss doesn’t need to be running reads, and even if he were an electric runner… if he goes down our season goes with him.

Don’t like it personally but I think that’s this teams best chance right now, and likely all year.

Oh I’ve read the many comments just fine. There are plenty of people here who think it was a mistake to not go out and get a DT QB from the portal rather than promoting Nuss.

I know several posters here have the reasonable take you are talking about. I actually agree that Nuss needs to make a few strategic pulls and/or scrambles per game to help the run game and keep defenses guessing. I’m talking about the tards who think we have to re-create what Daniels did, which is impossible.
