I love reading threads that pop up like this one. After commentators say something all game and later in the game and the next few days posters come here and start threads that are titled/about the exact same thing that was said on the tv broadcast, thing they are posting some profound sttement that shows their high level football IQ... go mensa's

I think BK clarified it during the in game interview. We need to run it when it’s there. 3rd and six. 4 man rush that is behind you and 25 yards of green grass in front of you. Go get the 1st down and slide. Moving the chains on 3rd and medium was my biggest concern on offense going into this season.

He normally does this a lot. For some reason he got away from it in the Ole Miss game.

Burrow never ever ran a zone read.

The one in the natty was a thing of beauty. I think it was 3rd and 10 too.

Lol. I made this comment to friends during the game.

The RPOs/Zone Reads are hindering both the run game and the pass game, if Nuss is never going to tuck and run.

agreed. This actually applies to any QB on every team.

Having the QB pull it and run can be very effective. And even if not, it keeps the defense honest for the rest of the game, knowing the QB is a running threat.

Nuss either needs to tuck it and run or they need to stop calling the RPOs altogether.
Read option and RPO are not same, fyi.

If Nuss is sidelined for a 1-2 games due to injury our season is over.

But what about the people that wanted Nuss benched in the 3rd quarter for Collins?

Yes, corrected in 2nd post. I get the terminology mixed up all the time.

RPO is basically the rollout with ability to run or throw.

Zone read seems to be the more of the issue.

No it's not. The TD pass to Trey'Dez Green was a RPO.

We as fans have no idea how many of those plays are called zone reads vs direct handoffs. There are way too many people on here that assume every time Nuss hands the ball off from a shotgun formation that it is a zone read.

It will come a lil more during season. If he doesn't need to, don't. I agree some check downs rather than forcing the throws aren't needed. I think he will have a big bootleg run or something similar in crucial time later in season.

some of us have been saying this all year and we were told that Nuss should literally never run

This is a poor argument imo. If Nuss doesn’t run sometimes then we will lose one or two games down the stretch. Nobody is saying he needs to be Taysom Hill but if the defense is giving you an easy 1st down then you take it.

He finally took off and got a key 3rd down when he ran for 14 yds on 3rd and 13. I think you will start to see him run it a little more in situations where they defense drops in Cover 2 Man or on certain zone reads when he can get the first down.

I wouldn't expect to see a lot of zone reads but enough to keep the defense honest by keeping it once a game maybe. But taking off when no one is open and he has a running lane is far more important to me. That will change coverages.
