My impression: I have been ruined for all other college football experiences.
We all know the game left a little to be desired, especially since the Tigers lost.
However, I have never experienced anything like what went on outside the stadium on Saturday. The hospitality people showed us was unbelievable. It felt like we met long lost family. It blew every other exerience I have had out of the water. I owe a huge thanks to all of those who hosted us at their parties, and helped us plan our trip. It was unforgettable. I can not believe how friendly and fun everyone was. It is just hard to explain.
You have a special thing going there in Baton Rouge. One thing that struck me is the universal pride eneryone has in the state of Louisiana, their culture, and the Tigers. I think that is the golden thread that runs through the whole thing and makes evryone so enthusiastic to share.
I just don't know how it could get any better than that. Well done everyone. Well done.
Geaux Tigers!

I forgot to mention that my 8 and 10 year old daughters proudly went off to school today wearing their LSU game jersey and hoodie.

Glad that you had fun ... it really is a great place to be on Saturday afternoons in the fall!

One thing that was funny is how so many people were surprised and amazed that we came all that way "just to see a Tigers game". My answer: why wouldn't ya? You can not get a more authentic life experience IMO.

Halifax,
May try and catch up with you while in PEI next summer - lots of family up there, and parents own homes at Cavendish Beach/Stanley Bridge and Summerside. Spent many summers there as a kid - beautiful country and great people.

And this is LSU football and its fans. Win or lose, you can't be more proud when hearing great times and things like that.
Halifax, glad you had a wonderful time.
Oh by the way, you are family.

Sure thing. My wife and one of the guys that went on the trip with me are from Summerside. I am at all of those places a lot. Great spots in the summer, and you are right great people.
I can't post my email in the thread, because it is for work (I really need a hotmail account). But if you post an email address, I'll send you a note with my contact details.

same problem here - prefer not to post an email address here. Will send you a note later. Keep in touch.
By the way, does your Summerside friend's last name start with an "S"? Could be a relative.

Tree, I am still itching - and I am serious! Standing on 2 fire ant hills in one day is just no good. I have got to get better at tailgating!
You guys were fantastic. I am still raving about the sauce picante. I will be trying to make it for my next football party. I'll probably try to get venison, since turtle and gator are a little hard to come by up here.
It is going to be very hard not to go back.

You said you were blown away by the tailgating and welcome outside of the stadium.
What was your impression of being inside the stadium watching the game and crowd?

Stadium and crowd:
I loved the stadium. It has great sightlines, and an impressive size. I like how the seats are steep and come down close to the sidelines. It keeps you close to the action, even when you are higher up. By comparison, I was at Alabama last year and the seating is set back more and have a more gradual slope away from the field.
Not crazy about the scoreboards.
The fans inside the stadium are friendly and knowledgeable. The people around me all engaged in converstaion about the game as it unfolded, which I really like.
Noise: It was very loud at the beginning of the game. Things got a little quieter as the game went on, which is understandable, since there were no touchdowns and little offensive production. A lot of fans we talked to after the game, who are regulars, also commented about this. I don't want to leave the impression that I did not think it was amazing, it was. I just think it has been louder at times.
Overall: an amazing environment to watch a game in.
