At one point it was only LSU and UCLA that officially went by their acronym, since then I THINK Texas Christian (TCU) joined them and I know East Carolina (ECUO) tried

LaState is a funny one to make people uncomfortable knowing that anything other than "LSU" just isnt right. If you tell people you went to Louisiana State and they arent from relatively close states, they'll probably question it. "LSU" just has the brand recognition.

So only 3 of these (USC, BYU & TCU) qualify according to the Matheus5A’s Post (3 Letter schools)! So you could think of very few (4 maybe 5) out of what almost 200 or more schools in FBS?
