UNA succeeding at the old “hit it where they ain’t strategy”.

quote:This has always been Shores' problem. He struggles with the out pitch. He throws 98 with 2 feet of run, but once guys get to two strikes, they just choke up and put bat on ball.
They’ve hit like one ball hard today
Needs to keep developing the slider and work on a change up.

I wish we could burn other teams’ asses on the shift like they burn ours.
Our infield positioning has sucked for years.

Now would be an excellent time for one of those hits that results in a two out play
Shores has induced two, but we shifted away from them

And an Arrambide passed ball is a constant threat here.

This team is making a lot of good contact against Shores
I wouldn't call it good contact. This is who Shores has always been so far in his career here. Maybe not a ton of K's but very good at inducing soft ground balls. They are just getting very lucky right now

Playing up the middle won us games last year.

Would be nice to miss a bat here

There you Geaux Shores

Shores’ swinging strike rate has to be one of the lowest on the team.

Yea but this is really good for a Sunday starter. I was hoping he would develop that out pitch and become a Friday night guy but he's not quite there yet, although his slider looks so much better than it did his freshman year. He's definitely progressing and is a huge asset to have one Sundays right now

Nice to see Shores work himself out of that jam!

bot 3, Jones, Dickinson, Pearson due up

Think the tight zone has gotten to Shores, but that he struggles to find an out pitch.

Oh I get it now...
They play "Who Let The Dogs Out?" when they're throwing weiners at the crowd.
Clever
