I went to the second LMU game at the PMAC.

It wasn't as good as the first but it was the most entertaining game I've ever seen there.

LSU was losing 23-9 but came back to win. Both teams finished with triple digits.

LSU had another guard from Connecticut (?)
Maurice Williamson

Was the son of Super John Williamson who starred for the Nets in the 80’s. A high volume scorer who could light it up. Saw him play in the championship game of Connecticut’s tourney where he starred for perennial powerhouse Wilbur Cross high.
He led Cross that evening in a 105-103 loss in a game that featured 4 eight minute quarters.
Was a larger guard than his son.

I was watching Gaithers closely and he was having trouble catching his breath in play stoppages. Of course he wasn't the only one so maybe it doesn't mean anything, but I thought back to that game when I heard he had died.

He was a phenomenal talent. I wonder what he would have done had he not died.

1988-89
Illinois - saw it. Three days before Christmas. That was one of the most talented opposing teams to come through.
Georgetown - wish I could have been there. One of THE greatest upsets ever.
UNLV - saw it. Best seats I ever had in PMAC. Vegas was starting to run away with it in second half.

1989-90
Kansas - NIT game. Wasn’t much but a Friday night letdown.
Notre Dame - whoever scheduled this forgot that we had to go to Tuscaloosa the very NEXT day.
UNLV - Super Bowl Sunday spectacular. Greatest game on TV that day.
Loyola Marymount - was one of a million who will say he was there. The most entertaining basketball game I have ever seen.

1990-91
Texas - the Texas game the year before was better.
Arizona - the Shaq coming out party.
*Lmu came back again also.

1991-92
Louisville - game was won. MO just had to make one free throw. He missed two.
Duke - for a moment we were about to feel the greatest victory in PMAC history.

1988-89
Illinois - Had a great team with balance, Tigers lost a close one
Georgetown - Blanton grabbed Russel Grant miss and put back at buzzer for the win
UNLV - The Shark was crying in his towel as Tigers rolled

1989-90
Kansas - Jayhawks too much to handle
Notre Dame - Biggest crowd in college BB history saw Tigers roll the Irish
UNLV - Tark crying in towel again
Loyola Marymount -
scoreboard on overload as Tigers take down LMU a few weeks before Hank Gaithers tragically died

1990-91
Texas - Tigers lassoed Horns
Arizona - Shag was a 7'1 PG leading the break sending Vitale into orgastic ecstacy ( when he loved LSU)

1991-92
Louisville - Louisvile won on half court buzzer beater
Duke - Laettner vs Shaq was great but Blue Devils prevailed

Great memories

Went to all of them. Boy, I’d have to say the UNLV game. They were juggernauts and we knocked them off their throne. The Loyola Marymount game was a wild high scoring slugfest. Definitely got my free burger after that one.

Where was it that gave away free burgers when we scored over 100? Wendy’s?

I lived in Vegas during that time so the UNLV games were my favorites. Won a ton of money off those snobby Runnin Rebel fans. They considered themselves the L.A Lakers of college basketball. Weren't far off if you ever went to one of their home games. It was a show and the floor seats were called Gucci row for a reason.

At 6-7, 245lbs his game was a mix of Larry Johnson and Antwan Jamison. He had Twan’s quick release and touch inside that made it hard to block his shot and LJ’s physicality. His jumper was gross but who knows it could’ve improved. I think he’s still a 20-8 type NBA player because of his power and ability to get his shot off with accuracy inside vs true bigs no matter where hedve ended up. If he plays for a Don Nelson or a Paul Westpahl those averages might jump to 25-10 or more.

I agree with everything else you said and respect your memory but for this. LSU lost 127-100. Kendall Gill, Nick Anderson, Marcus Liberty...way too much. CJ did have a night though.

UNLV and Loyola Marymount, went to both, non-stop action with lots of NBA level talent.

They even played a pre-season Exhibition vs the Russian (post-Soviet) national team -- that had Arvidous Sabonus as center. That was a track meet!

Yea CJ was keeping us in it but fouled out with a lot of time left as Illinois pulled away.

The LMU game is STILL my favorite game of all time. I sat as high as you could sit in the student section. I was standing and sweating the entire game. Randy Devall still hasn't caught his breath from that game. I thought he was going to die.

The Duke game was one for the ages, but I enjoyed the conference games as well. I will always remember watching them play Allen Houston and Tennessee from the 2nd row. Must have been a break. Pokey Chapman on the women's side was pretty special too.
