Ruben Randle, obj, Russel sheppard, chi Dupre, dural(injured) but was going to play early, Tyron Johnson. I mean he's had several guys play early in their careers.

I can recall more than a few WRs that were impact WRs right off the bat.

Im not denying that, my point is more that even Chark isnt that proven and no one behind him has done anything. So not only do they need to step up, so does Chark.

You're asking a lot from a group who as a whole hasnt done much. In years past their generally was a buffer WR (think rueben Randle to Freshman Odell, or Soph Odell to Soph Landry) who was cemented as a WR1.

With our past elite WR's, peak Fr seasons at LSU have generally been 30catches 400-500 yards

peak Soph seasons are 40-50 catches 700 yards max

Chark is a SR with 26 career catches.

The group behind him has like 10 career catches.

We dont have the usual progression of our WR tree that we have seen in years past. There's no buffer there and we are pretty much just throwing these guys into the fire and asking a ton of them as Sophomores and fresmhen

With Canada's much more fluid and distributive offensive approach than we've had the last several years, getting the TEs involved, and the ability of our RB to catch out of the backfield I feel that all the pressure won't be on just a couple WR like we've seen.

The offensive, as usual, will hinge on the QB being able to get it to all these guys and keep defenses honest. I have confidence in Canada to coach Etling up and get him where we need him to be. We'll be fine, possibly very very good on that side of the ball

We are not inexperienced. Inexperienced compared to what? This is college football. Starters move on after a year or two of starting. We return our top receiver from last year, DJ Chark. We also return our #4, Gage. This is par in college football.

We are not relying on freshman, even in our five deep. If a freshman gets meaningful playing time it's because he muscled his way in, not because he was needed.

We return 36 catches from our WRs from last year that's inexperience

Because I have two eyes and a brain. Davis could emerge, but so far he is more potential than production. Anderson has talent but he's in the doghouse so won't see much time. Sullivan is a tweener who might make a great receiving TE if he learns how to play with his hand in the dirt.

No offense, but your thinking is silly. Combining this comment and the other one you posted, did you know Josh Reed would be as good as he was after 8 receptions? Landry didn't even play WR as a freshman, he was on special teams. Bowe had 9 receptions for 100 yards, and yeah sure you looked at Beckham before the season and knew he would start ahead of 5 star Landry.

Both Davis and Anderson are on that level and we'll see this ysar.

Exactly, I was wondering the same thing about hearing all this no depth at WR. We had 8, now 9 with Stevens going to offense, then now Jefferson coming on board makes 10. We lose 2 next year leaves 8, then we get Marshall #1 WR and either Chase or the other Keys which gets us back to 10... Then our best WR will be the transfer from Texas Tech that makes 11.... That is plenty!

Also, I don't get all the inexperience talk... this is college, we can't just do free agency like the pros. Our free agents have to sit out a year.... Look, we have a few upper classmen led by Chark, then we have 3-4 talented big WR who are in their 2nd years... On most teams that is enough experience because of coaching... now we have the right offensive coaches in place. And for next year, Davis, Sullivan etc... will all be in their 3rd year plus the aewsome transfer from Tech... I would say a lot of experience next year

Bold prediction: Drake Davis has over 1000 yards this year

My "bold" prediction: Drake has about 100 yards in mop up time. He'll be about the fifth guy, fourth at best.

Im talking about becoming a frontline WR. All conf type players. It almost always happens in year 3. Im not talking about catching 30 balls for 500 yards as "emerging".

Unlike the previous coaching staff where the 2 WR's who played in a game, didn't even need to take a shower afterwards, the WR's are going to work their asses off now.

All of this is just for one play.

quote:

Chark leads the team in acceleration-deceleration rate. GPS-tracking devices, worn on each player's chest during practice, measure an assortment of variables, including acceleration-deceleration. Every time Chark begins running and then slows, that counts as 1oneacceleration-deceleration or, as Chark calls it, "accel-decel."

During an average practice, Chark’s count is “well over 300,” he said. Russell Gage and Drake Davis, the next two receivers in snaps, average in the high 200s.
quote:

Chark breaks the huddle, then races to his designated spot on the wide side of the field, along the left sideline. One accel-decel.
quote:

A shift is called. Tackles swap places, running backs become wideouts and Chark runs some 25 yards to the opposite side of the ball, positioning himself in a slot receiver spot. Two accel-decels
quote:

A second shift unfurls. Tackles switch back, a tight end becomes a slot receiver and Chark returns to his original spot to the far left of the field, near the sideline. Three accel-decels.
quote:

By this time, the play clock is down to 8 seconds. The snap must be coming, right? Not before Chark motions behind the line of scrimmage as the decoy on a fake jet sweep. Four accel-decels.
quote:

The ball is snapped, and there goes Chark, turning up the field and finally crossing the line of scrimmage after running more than 60 yards behind it in a span of 15 seconds. Tired yet?

No you weren't. You were talking out of your arse, and now you're moving the goalposts like you usually do. Jarvis Landry and Odell were both studs in year two, anyway, regardless of their stats.

And if you really meant all conference, then things will be no different under O.

I was just thinking the same thing. If these blue chip recruits could start contributing earlier this could be a dangerous offense by the time we get into the meat of the sec gauntlet.

With so little experience, it makes you wonder why they transfers of Quinn and the other kid that went to Texas Tech.
