I understand that we are inexperienced at WR, but is anybody else confused about the depth concerns that have been written and talked about lately.

DJ Chark
Russell Gage
Sullivan
Davis
Anderson
Dillon
Netherly
Mcmath

Then add Stevens

This seems more than enough for it not to be a concern. I concede I'm probably still thinking in the old offensive mindset where only 2 WRs caught balls in a given year.

This is the crux of it all. This unit might be all world but we just don't know yet.

High school hype from these guys, however the concerns are not just depth. The reality is not much collegiate in game experience with this group. Add to the fact that our offensive line has many question marks we could see similar offensive results to last year.

I'm not wearing the blinders this year. 8-4, 9-3. The road schedule is brutal. We will be undefeated when we get to Florida. The rest of the schedule is a toss up.

I guess that's where I'm confused. If the main concern is experience then adding Stevens makes little sense.

Justin Jefferson also added, we have 10 scholarship WRs now

If he's really good at it, it makes perfect sense. It's not like we can sign a FA for the position.

Fair enough. Maybe I'm defining "experience" different than you are.

The kid from Parkway High in Bossier City should commit unlike their QB going to TCU

Obviously the coaches feel Stevens is a playmaker who needs to be on the field. We are stacked at safety, moving him to WR makes perfect sense if you are trying to establish depth being Chark.

It's a concern...moving Stephens was a great idea. Saw him play in high school, great athlete.

They're young, that's it. I can't say we're "loaded" but we have more than an adequate number of wide receivers.

In fact, we don't really have much of a shortage of skill players, across the board now. And even defensive linemen - we have three nose tackles now.

The only shortage we can reasonably identify at this point is offensive linemen. Someone posted earlier that we only played 9 Oline guys in a meaningful way in 2016. Personally, I think we should have 18 to 21 scholarship offensive linemen. We have 11 - even if that's "enough" - I view it as a shortage. I think even 15 or 16 would be a little light in that group.

85 scholarships

3 QBs
5 RBs
6 TE/FB/H-B
9 WR
18 OL
12 DL (3-4)
15 LB (3-4)
14 DBs
3 Specialists

Obviously we're not at those numbers. By far the biggest "need" is OL. No other position group is short - most are overstrength.

It didn't look like Jacoby was gonna get on the field at safety this season and I hate seeing a stud athlete ride pine. I wouldn't be surprised if he moves back to S next year.

I'd trade 3 of those WRs for one stud OL at this point.

He's a WR I think for good.

He would've been a 5* WR as well if that was what he was listed at in HS, even though he played both.

Delpit and Todd Harris are going to be absolutely great safeties for us and they're in his class.

We are used to WR development under Miles where it takes 3 years for them to emerge. We have a lot of young guys hopefully Canada is able to develop them faster

Don't block well, don't see the field.

I don't know for sure that was true under Miles, but I feel like it was

Anybody know why we don't hear anything about Eric Monroe?

Ive noticed that Jacoby has a facial resemblance to Julio Jones and his build is similar as well. Let's hope we can get 75% of what Julio brought to the college game out of Jacoby. This move looks promising to me.

Recruiting isn't an exact science. We have highly rated guys in every class that never rise to the top of the depth chart.

shite happens. I'm sure he's a solid backup.

Nobody below Chark has shown anything significant yet.

We have talent. And if 2 guys step up significantly from m last year the WR corps could end up being a strength.

But, If we end up with Chark and Gage from last year as our top 2...
