Spring Game? You might have noticed LSU has not officially published anything about specific details regarding this year’s spring game. As we go further into the spring, we believe this is by design. Yesterday we reported that Miles Frazier missed the workout, which left the Tigers with only six available scholarship offensive linemen for the day. That could make it rather difficult to hold a traditional spring game. And Brian Kelly has pretty much hinted at this from the first time he met with the media this spring. Asked about the nature of the spring game and what it’s like to juggle keeping things vanilla but also creating a television-friendly event, he said, “If you can play the game… You could have a short spring game, but you could have some 7-on-7 or individual drills. You could have some things where fans are still involved in it, but we’ll have to see how that goes.” This is a storyline more for the fans, but in reality, I’m not sure a spring game is as important this year as it was a season ago. Kelly wanted to mimic an actual game, from the pregame rituals to the battle between the lines during his first year. With his team much further along this go-around and injuries and other things preventing certain players from participating, we wouldn’t be shocked to see something very different this year.
