Wait, you don't think regular season ticket holders are bringing in alcohol? The entire stadium breaks that policy. When I was a student, we snuck our alcohol through the regular seats

alcohol-related problems. There's no problem with my old arse bringing in booze and getting drunk. I might let an F bomb go here or there. But it's no secret that younger folks, especially a student section, doesn't conduct themselves in similar manner.

If people are staying home because they don't want to be searched, they demand for the south endzone expansion wouldn't have been there.

Attending games in the ss is a gigantic pain in the arse that isn't worth the trouble for a large number of students unless it's a massive game.

Students aren't buying those tickets doofus.

And at any rate, there is demand for more premium seating, but the supply of regular seating exceeds demand right now.

It's certainly not because the students cause MORE problems than the other ticket holders
I beg to differ. Gate 7 is more prone to have "childish" fans rather than other gates. If anything, treat all gates the same, but DO NOT loosen the reins on any gate.

I bet if a student worse slding shorts and stuck the flask in the spot to slide your cup in, you could get it in pretty easy every time....

Business brah. People pay for tickets and spend money to park, tailgate, eat, concessions. Students are already paid for hence taking seats away if they don't use them. Not saying it's fair but it's BUSINESS.

They are in college!! It is the students job to sneak alcohol into the stadium and it is the schools job to catch/prevent this from happening.....it has been this way for sometime!!

You realize that serving alcohol in the stadium has shown to decrease binge drinking and alcohol related incidents inside the stadium?

Once again, why did LSU just change this if it was such a logical, effective, efficient, and correct way of doing things?

Pretty terrible business method since those are the future customers

They won't have that problem now. LSU fixed the issue of treating their students like dirt when entering the game.

Why would they fix an issue that would not need fixing?

I can't help but reflect on how I am able to freely walk into the elevator prior to taking my seat in the lower level of the Stadium Club

People might not like it but there is a huge difference between the people waiting for the elevator and the students. I'm sure that you've seen dozens of "first timers" get kicked out of a club house section for being only half as loud or less than they were used to being in the outdoor seats. The two groups simply can't be compared and the club house regulars are self regulating and don't tolerate anyone who comes close to getting too rowdy.

That said, I really haven't seen how they treat students over the last decade or so but I don't think that they should be mistreated. I certainly wasn't "Mr straight and narrow" but I wasn't a troublemaker either. I think that they should avoid mistreating the students coming in and concentrate on keeping them in line during the game. After all, it's their behavior during the games that is in question.

There's your problem. Rowdiness and unruly behaviour should never be a concern in the student section. Nothing short of criminal contraband, theft, violent crimes (against persons or property) or public lewdness (maybe) should be a concern in the student section. Loudness, enthusiasm and simple obnoxiousness should not be policed; it might even should be encouraged.

Sit down. Your law degree may be from Southern, but when you purchase a ticket it explicitly states that this will happen and it is at the hands of the security at the venue to allow access.

So your argument is that nobody but students would bring a gun into the game?

Booze check. I got that treatment and so did my girl way back in the late 1990s. Random.

Deal with it.
