he pat downs and searches were ridiculous for the very next home game. Anyone else remember that? I can't remember the exact year.

95/96 abouts.. I had forgot why they started frisking.. It was obviously a big deal when the cheerleader got cracked over the dome... They also got tired of all the full cups of drinks being thrown after every big play or bad call.. I blame it on Dinardo's "Bring back the Magic"

And the toilet paper rolls thrown from the top all the way to the bottom. That's what the student section needs to start doing again.

The pat downs and lines make it such a chore to get in that the just there for the party crowd don't want to put up with the bs unless it's a good game and I can hardly blame them. The scene out there at the Uab game last year was aeful. More people would go if it was such a PITA.

So happy to be done with that after 7 years, I'm looking forward to avoiding that hassle more than the game I think.

I haven't been in the student section since the 2012 bama game and I was quite inebriated at the time but I don't remember having to go through anything that thorough. Just had to empty my pockets if I remember correctly.

Is this a new thing or do they pat down/search at random or did I just get lucky and come across a lenient member of the security staff?

I miss being a student and having my balls grab by a cop when I enter tiger stadium. Fun times.

You're nephew is slightly over exaggerating and it's really not a big deal.

Sorry, I think you're wrong. It's called profiling. The student section shows an extreme tendency toward drunken rowdiness, so that's who they check. It's logical and efficient. Checking everyone would be stupid. It's a shame that our society's hypersensitivity toward this sort of thing has bred an entire generation of fuzzy thinkers like you.

Now, with that out of the way - I think you should have played Harris more. And wtf is with that goofy clapping? Seriously!

Why are the students subjected to such an overwhelming search of their person that rivals that of the TSA at LaGuardia, while everyone else could walk in with a flask of alcohol (gasp) or worse yet, a weapon or other contraband?

because students do stupid stuff.

But imo, it's just stereotyping. That's all. It's stupid but it's easier for those in charge than to figure out how to safely and fairly search everyone.

I don't know maybe that's b/c where the fricking problems with bottles being tossed and other absurd shite going on. It's perfectly fine with me.
I was subjected to it in my day and again when ex wife was in law school. Compression shorts with bags of liquor tucked under taint. problem solved. Then when you graduate you can put bottles of booze in your pockets.

Because there will be a bunch o flittle girls bringing in vodka and passing out in the stands because of heat, and sun, and booze, and that looks a lot worse on the university.

So why did they quit doing it?

Checking the student section was stupid. It creates animosity between the university and its students, the people who will be donating to the school soon.

Does to me. Bunch of entitled shits feel violated and persecuted b/c they are being targeted for a breaking a stadium policy while other gates face less security? That's like whining that there are there so many cops in 70805? That's where the crime is. IN this case that's where the most alcohol-related problems are. Both strategies focus your limited resources on the most problematic area be it a gate or zip code.
Analogy stands.

Kids, quit yer bitching and get off my lawn.

This is normal.

Would you rather have someone come in with a handgun or two and several full mags on their belts or in their pockets?

Sit down. Your law degree may be from Southern, but when you purchase a ticket it explicitly states that this will happen and it is at the hands of the security at the venue to allow access.

I wasn't speaking to the entire comment, I was speaking to the fuzzy thinkers comment.

Wait, you don't think regular season ticket holders are bringing in alcohol? The entire stadium breaks that policy. When I was a student, we snuck our alcohol through the regular seats

Anyways, did the number of incidents go up once LSU changed their security at the end of the year?

LSU already addressed the issue and hired an outside security staff that doesn't cavity search you on the way in.

The long lines and a-hole cops are 1 thing. Getting physical with students is something that should have been avoided.

So someone is going to shoot up the place, but they won't pay $20 on living social for a regular ticket before hand?

Clearly makes it an acceptable practice that we should all be okay with. Same with ads all over the place and piped in music. LSU has the authority to do it, so too bad

Typically, young adults make the decision to drink after driving. So it makes since to keep the booze out of the SS so they have a few hours to sober up before getting behind the wheel.

Now, they can't completely keep it out, but by giving extra searches, it helps keep the percentages down.

Then, there's always the rest of TS who regularly puts money into the athletic program. I don't see them risking that for alcohol.

That's just the way life goes.
