Saban took over a dumpster fire. LSU last year went 9-4 with a bowl victory. Yeah that's a good comparison

I'm sure if we look at the previous seasons we'll see that the success levels prior to Saban and Orgeron taking over are basically the same. I'm pretty confident it's going to work out this way, otherwise you wouldn't have made such a stupid post, but I'll go ahead and check anyway:

LSU's record in

1998: 4-7
1999: 3-8

2015: 9-3
2016: 8-4

Huh. Looking at those records, I can see a little bit of a difference. And if you want to use 2014 instead of 2016 for the two seasons before Orgeron, that wont change too much.

recruiting class ranks prior to Saban's 1st year at LSU:

1996 - 3
1997 - 34
1998 - 30
1999 - 44

recruiting class ranks prior to Orgeron's 1st year at LSU:
2013 - 6
2014 - 2
2015 - 5
2016 - 2

When Sabah took over at LSU, was LSU in the middle of a putting the MOST players in the NFL?

These might not be 100% correct. In trying to work and scan wikipedia at the same time.

43-26-1, 0-3 in bowls. Though Mich St did win the bowl game the year he left.

He was also 7 years younger than O is now. Some people may not think age is much of a factor. But when Saban was hired he was a "young" up and comer. You hire a coach at 56, generally you would expect him to be an established head coach.

You not really comparing "O"ver his head, to Saban are you?

You need to stop.

Further explain

1999: 3-8

2016: 8-4, top 15 ranking.

It's as simple as that and I'm stupefied people are still trying to force this comparison.

One thing people are missing is that Saban took over an absolute shite show at Michigan State. A more apt comparison is Saban's time at Michigan State & O's time at Ole Miss.

Saban was like 44-26-1 when we hired him.

FRRRIIIICCCKKK!!!!!

That's outstanding compared to the complete jackass that hired MILES out of OK STATE with a (28-24) record.

Saban can find a job....ooops that's not true (schools BEG Saban to come work for them)

Other schools are beggin MILES to NOT contact them

Yeah but the Bama game and UT game where completely unexpected and we shouldn't have won.

And we shouldn't have lost by 30 to MS. What's your point? And FYI we were favored against Bama in 2000.

Saban came from Michigan State with a .585 win pct. Certainly not as awful as O's stint at Ole Miss with a .286 win pct. but Saban wasn't what he is now. In fact many of you were melting back then when we hired him. Saban left LSU with a .750 win pct. In 5 years he had a 1 loss season only one time. Never a 2 loss, two 3 loss seasons a 4 loss and a 5 loss. He never went undefeated. So far O has a .750 winning percentage at LSU and had a .750 winning pct at USC. He has stated he has changed how he does things since Ole Miss and that he learned his lesson. The stats show drastic improvement for O when he has talent and lets his staff coach. I understand the frustration and the feeling that a complete disaster could be on the horizon, but we play the games for a reason and any new coach with a new offense is going to have growing pains. Anyone that says they know what is going to happen going forward has an agenda.

So that being said, what do we want from you Nega-O's?

It is simple, support the team and encourage the coach and the players and see what happens.

Further explain.. Because while i admit the talent level is better now, lets not pretend Ed came into a "full cupboard" scenario. He has a handful of mediocre OL and some depth/ injury issues with key players on the DL..

The depth issues on the OL and DL is 100% Ed O fault. He was the DL position coach and recruiting coordinator
