Alright - stop right there. Saban's 95 MSU team did not have more talent than that exceptional 95 Tiger led by Dinardo.

Sorry had to get that off my chest. Whew.

So glad someone responded you that! Dumb!

The point is the only example any of us have of O making long term decisions for a program is horrible. I'm still trying to wrap my head around him making Ole Miss run a full pad 80 play scrimmage during a weather delay against Wake Forest. I just don't get that line of thinking by a head coach. Oh well I guess he learned from that mistake.

At MSU:
- never won 10 games or more
- never won a bowl game
- 2 .500 seasons

- Career bowl game win%: 55
- Never won 10 games in a season prior to LSU, period.

He wouldn't have been qualified to be HC at LSU according to many of you.

Hell, even DiNardo had a better showing in his stint at Vanderbilt by a significant margin.

In his first 3 years, he was 7-16 in conference and nearly had a winning season at literally a perennial loser.

Coach O went 3-21 in his 3 years in the SEC with a team that was one year removed from a share of the SEC West title.

the last time O was allowed to put his fingerprints on a program it culminated in the worst tenure ever at program full of shite tenures.

And Dabo Swinney had zero head coaching when he was hired and has been very successful at Clemson.

Correct. But O did have head coaching experience prior to LSU.

Want to hear those numbers again?

I was on the Mike MacIntyre train. I felt very lonely.

eh... I'm an outgoing sociopath, I don't handle lonely very well.

Hell, I would've gotten behind the Taggert hire too. Again, very lonely position. I will admit, my biggest concern with Saban coming to LSU was whether he could recruit in the South. It's laughable now. Worth noting it didn't take him long to make an impact on the recruiting trail. Took him longer on the field, but both he and his assts hit the recruiting trail like banshees. They didn't get everybody, but the competition knew they were serious about trying to.

However, I don't see Orgeron as the apocalypse. I do want a short leash. But a flexible leash.

he finished #7 in the country at a program comimg off sanctions AND
was a very successful NFL coordinator
BEFORE STEPPING FOOT ON LSU'S CAMPUS

ed orgeron has never proven he can run a defense or offense at any level.

he has also never proven he can run a program

I'm saying he was mentored by the greatest head coach in the history of the game!

And successfully got his arse whipped by Gerry Dinardo who had a less talented team. The game was not even close.

Which was his first year as HC of a team just off of sanctions.
