I'm excited about Etling, think he'll do great in our offense. He's actually a much better fit in our offense than Harris anyway.

I look for good things going forward, it feels good to have a QB that looks competent and poised in the pocket. We shall see, but any LSU fan that isn't excited about Etling and his potential going forward, well I don't know what to tell you.

This article just makes me want to be rid of Miles Asap.

No ability to recruit qb's for his system.

No ability to change the system to fit your Qb's

And most importantly, ever since jlee and the pick sixes, he has been so scarred to turn the ball over that he has ruined his qb's. They are so scared of making a mistake they cant be loose and play.

Horrible, situation all around. I will even admit that he has proven he can win lots of games with his system. Problem is his guys are so scared in the big games the cant perform.

Interesting that we are finally starting to hear a little feedback and criticism of miles and his merry band of numb-nuts from ex- players...and not just Hebert....I think we knew he was clueless...players will confirm what a clueless clown he truly is....

Etling did nothing in the second half

Etling didn't have to do anything in the second half.

He did everything he needed to do in the second quarter.

He lead the team to 3 touchdowns. He gave the team hope.

There was nothing to be gained by running up the score.

The punt return padded the lead. The staff could try different techniques and give the third stringers some game experience.

Good throw to DG. dropped.
Completion called back on a hold.
PI not called on throw to MD.
Short throw in endzone to MD who gave no help to the quarterback.
Two overthrows, one deep on the left sideline might have been a throw away and not a real attempt at a completion. Not sure! The other was just a bad throw.
One pass batted down by lineman on a quick short dumpoff attempt.
Another pass to the endzone was flagged for PI.

Those are the second half throws I remember.

So despite the bad call and the drops we were still able to have an impact with the passing game in the second half despite very limited number of attempts.

Cameron “develops” each type of quarterback “separately,” the ex-player said, and Miles handcuffs quarterbacks when it comes to scampering out of the pocket — even in practice. “Coach Miles is not a fan of making it up as you go,” the player said. “If a QB wanted to make a play with his feet, even in practice, Miles is not happy. That goes back to the failure to adapt to the new way. Why is he bringing in the dual threat if he’s not going to let them be ‘dual threat?' "

Hence the deer in headlights look from Jefferson, Jennings, and Harris.

ETA:This is why Miles seemed pissed off at Etling after the game, because Danny did scramble a couple times which was the right thing to do.

this is another opinion of an issue expressed since the jarrett lee era of what has been said ad nauseum on the rant.

all us non-football guys who are lsu fans could see it a long time ago. miles plays scared and handcuffs his qb's. why the hell he likes dual threat qb's is one of life's great mysteries, since he won't use their talents.

i'm noticing that now that it seems conclusive that this is miles last year everyone is coming out of the woodwork to pile on, pointing out the obvious weaknesses. we're getting laughed at by opposing fans as we endure this final season, taunted that the opposing defenses know how to prepare for LSU. stop the run. ignore the passing "threat".

hopefully the D will help us win 9 games. I think Etling could do well at this point, but who trusts that Miles will let him play? he clearly wants Harris back in and will use the least excuse to get his boy back under center. I have no faith that harris will be successful under miles.

Screw the incomplete passes. I love his poise running this offense. Some of you guys are retarded! He actually checked down on pass plays and went to his 3rd or 4th options, can you believe that?

When have we seen Harris even come remotely close to doing that? He drove us down after Jackson's INT all be it by running the ball but he rolled out and made the right decision and ran the ball in for a TD!

Danny Etling is a gunslinger style QB. Those types usually make more mistakes, but they make a hell of a lot more big plays and elevate all of their playmakers to another level. I'd trade one or two interceptions for three or four TD passes any day! If Miles tries too hard to contain him, we're screwed. A QB like DE needs to sling it at least 30 times a game in order to fully take advantage of his style of play. It'd also cause our TEs and WRs to feel more involved. That'd increase team morale.

You just described Harris to a tee. Now he plays like a scared little kitten.

I have no doubt that by game 4-5 Etling will be a shell of himself.

Remember when Mett scrambled in 2011 and Les made him kneel out the rest of the possession? Wonder if that is why we didn't see him again at the end of that season.

The article was ok but doesn't break a whole lot of new ground.

What's wrong with LSU's passing offense boils down to recruiting and development.

No it doesn't. The problem runs deeper than that.

THE Fundamental Flaw in Les's Football PhilosophyLINK

You see, in Les's football philosophy there is no pressing need for QB "development."

I discussed your thought with my son last night watching the UH game.

Basically, Jennings never looked better than he did during his first meaningful PT vs Arky in '13. Nor arguably has Brandon looked better than his first meaningful PT vs State in '14.

Can only hope Etling doesn't fall victim to our coaching staff.
