no doubt in my mind that if the stars align we can compete for the SEC next year, which, of course, would mean a trip to the playoffs.

Joe Burrow is good enough if the Oline comes together in the second year of Coach Kregg, along with a stronger rushing game. Joe can throw. Joe can run. Joe can make plays.

will our juniors on defense come back next year. Not expecting Devin White to come back. just a huge bonus if he does.

we have to finish strong on the recuiting trail, esp. on the Dline. and right now I don't see it. sopsher? Ika? both look to be going somewhere else.

we're a couple recruits, a couple juniors coming back, some serendipity on the Oline.

Damn! we're so close.

Always has been and always will be the offensive coaching and system here at LSU.

I don't want to hear shite about the players. No team underachieves the way LSU does on offense. LSU has had an average recruiting class ranking of #8 over the past 10 years and has produced an average offensive ranking of #75.

Meanwhile schools like Washington State, Texas Tech and Houston have average recruiting classes in the 60s and produce top 10 offenses every year.

LSU’s offense has been nothing if not consistently bad. Some seasons, like this one, are so mind numbing poor it makes slightly below average offenses (by national rankings) look like world beaters. For years the narrative was “we’re only a qb away”, then it was “Miles antiquated Michigan offense”, now some say it’s o-line talent, others say E.

I tend to think those who blame the coaches and scheme are correct.

In the past I don't think it was necessarily the offensive coordinators. Les Miles had a lot of different offensive coordinators and always had the same crappy offense. In the end, he finally got his BBQ Buddy Yes-Man in Cam Cameron. At that point it was 100% his offense and the results showed. Near the end of Les Miles' reign, the offense was as bad as it had ever been.

What has me really uneasy about Captain Orgeron, is that it's only year two for him and he already has his BBQ Buddy Yes-Man.

The results are the same.

The only question now is, are the shrimp boot-wearing coon-asses going to carry him off on their shoulders at the end of the year on a false-start firing by incompetent Alleva

Lsu must have elite RB’s to contend. Historically LSU is about tough D and tough power running attack. Hopefully CEH Emery & Davis can provide that. We almost always have the D. Joe can be our 2019 version of Matt Flynn. We just need good Oline play and elite D.

You have a point but also have to take the defenses they play into account.

Texas Tech, in 2015, had the #2 scoring offense in the nation. Played us in the bowl game. Scored 27.

No...we can’t score A POINT against Alabama...let alone beat them in Bryant Denny.

You're right and that does have to factor in but you also have to consider that LSU usually has the best or at the very least a top 3 defense in the SEC and that 27 they scored in 2015 is still 17 points more than LSU has scored against Alabama in three straight tries combined and 27 points more then LSU has scored on two separate occasions that the current offensive coordinator had a shot at.

It's also more points than LSU has scored against Auburn, Florida, Mississippi State and Arkansas and only 3 points less than LSU scored against Southeastern

This is Miles v2.0. List of upgrades:

* LSU has its own proactive PR campaign now that pretends to be fans and sway public opinion

* a dang near censored media that almost isnt allowed to be critical

* the complete polar division amongst fans. It's no longer fans who think the program is meeting expectations versus those who think the bar has been lowered, its love O vs O haters...

Things that remain the same:

* great defense (same DC from previous regime)

* terrible offense (oc promoted position coach from previous regime)

* using wins to justify coaching performance instead of achieving goals, like winning division, conference or playoffs. OR STATS (OFFENSE)

* recruiting performance

* losing to Bama,

Wait wait wait, you mean to tell me those teams have stellar offenses in trash conferences that don't play defense? I'm astounded.

As someone who loves Ensminger as a tiger, I hate that he was basically forced into being OC.

You can tout strong defenses win championships all you want, but with an anemic offense, those strong defenses eventually break after too many 3 and outs.

We will never compete for championships with O and Ensminger.

I reckon you mean "close" as in only 1 loss next season. As you and I and we all know, to make the playoff, generally you can only afford 1 loss. That is not going to happen under The Orgeron Ensminger Regime. Their passive MENTALITY/PHILOSOPHY on offense will get them every time. There will ALWAYS be 2 or 3 losses awaiting them. These guys have the EXACT SAME OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY AS LES MILES.

Orgeron and Ensminger will sit on leads, especially on the road, and we will suffer two or three losses.

The offense will be shut down at Alabama. It will be like Fournette a few seasons ago running into a brick wall every time.

We'll be looking at 10 & 2 reg. season, possibly another 9 & 3.
