have you driven down LSU avenue in the past, oh, 10 years or so? they have branches RESTING ON THE POWER LINES
Baton Rouge's power issues post Gustav go way beyond the type of scenario you are describing. To use your example as support for your point is just being dishonest.

who is saying they're limited to just this?

why? it is an example of the lack of preparedness in BR. i didn't say that was the ONLY problem

It's a very minor example. If you don't have a better example, one that accounts for the types of issues we are having, then your assertion is pretty baseless and thus worthless.

That's ok. Just put an ad in the paper for Cajuns with big roof lights on their trucks, and promise them sideline seating in their own vehicles. Ring the field with the trucks. Not a problem.

Slow, go drive around BR. Trees have been unearthed and fallen onto lines. Clearing branches is a good suggestion, but you can't really mean BR is arrogant for not cutting down trees which may be unearthed onto a power line. Also, live oaks are not going to be cut down, or trimmed very much. It's just the way it is and is going to be in BR.

it's being able to handle people getting in and out of the campus area, along with having the necessary police presence
The issue is not getting lights on in Tiger Stadium. The issue is taking the state/city/parish/campus police/EMS and other workers away from what they're doing in an area that is barely functioning and use them to provide the necessary traffic and security for up to 90,000 fans to attend a football game. As good as it would be for LSU to have a tune-up before Auburn, it may not be the most important thing in the bigger picture.

I completey agree. If you read the entire thread, that is what most of us are saying. Sorry my original post didn't convey that fully. I have two small children who are sitting in the heat b/c there is no power and supplies are scarce around here.
I was simply trying to convey to the out-of-state folks that it could be a while before we have football in BR again, due to the exact issues you mentioned (electricity being the biggest issue,IMO).

Wouldn't this be a good time to start burying power lines in the more densely populated areas of S. Louisiana?

don't know what it would cost, but it's clearly the answer. My neighborhood has buried utility lines, as do most of the neighborhoods built in the last 20 years.
Posted on 9/4/08 at 11:40 am to nycajun
after gustav, it would be retarded not to bury the lines while everything is messed up and being rebuilt
Posted on 9/4/08 at 11:47 am to SlowFlowPro
forfeit the season is really the only answer that makes sense.

Wow. Well, then I guess the question becomes where might the game be played ? No way Miles and LSU sit out two straight weeks after a bizarro scenario in week one and hit the road in an SEC game.
Maybe they can line up a scrim with the Angola prison team?

I'm not going to jump on the hysteria wagon yet, but if there's even a question, then other options like moving to another site should be in place now.
I hear there's nothing going on in the Astrodome.

this pitcher better represents your posts.

I hope we play, if we dont then I guess I will understand. That's all I have to say about that.
