Sure he can, if he can show that he can play 2B. I think that has to be the pitch to get him back.
Dugas would be in line for a very low six figure signing bonus if he leaves this year
If he returns to LSU, it will be closer to $5-10k after next season.
So by coming back, he’s forfeiting a good bit of money. He’s also forfeiting the idea that playing the field will “increase his draft stock”.
If he is best option, so be it. He’ll likely get the opportunity. But I don’t think it’s shaping up in a way that he will be a full time LF or 2B

Ok? That’s a strange thing to say.
Dugas isn’t getting beat out by a freshman,he could dh if need be.
You realize dugas was leading the sec in conference home runs,at one pint late in the season.so he was hitting bombs off the best pitchers.idk how you can say that he may be squeezed out.he’s one of the top power hitters in the country

You are smoking crack if you think that a dude who just hit .300 with 19 homeruns won’t be in the lineup next year.

I was just being an arse and thought it a great way to punctuate my comments and get a rise out of my serial downvoters here.
Sorry.

Squeezed out in the field, not DH.
ETA: And I should add, I absolutely LOVE Dugas as a player... he's got a ton of "it" factor. Tough as nails, 100MPH player... so it's crazy to think this roster is getting this much of an upgrade.
Maybe
Dugas
Morgan
Crews
instead of
Morgan
Pearson
Crews
IDK... it's a good problem to have.

Dugas should DH.
Dugas will not return to DH in his money year. It would hurt his draft stock even more.

I’m not familiar with his draft stock, but more power to him if he wants to leave.

I know, that’s the issue.just put him where he was last year and be done with it

Travinski will miss most if not all of the season.

I’m not sure if dugas is any good in the infield or not ,but he’s got to be in the lineup and if he won’t dh you just have to find a way to still get him in there.
He needs to be batting behind Morgan berry and Cruz.we need more men on when the guys at the plate

This is his money year. Right now.
Not after next year.

Really? Is travinski that injured? He’s already been out a long time
Posted on 7/5/21 at 9:55 am to Lester Earl
Next season is his last if he stays correct
Posted on 7/5/21 at 9:59 am to Tigerpride18
He was a true junior this season so I believe he would have next year and then his covid year in 23 if he decided to use it.

He was a Covid Soph this season.
Technically has 2 more to play. I guess he will still have some leverage after this season with the draft. Unprecedented territory so I’m curious to see how it goes

Well, he had to have Tommy John surgery; so, yeah, he is “that injured”.
Travinski’s arm will not be ready to make the throws a catcher has to make by beginning of next season and will definitely miss doing that all Fall and Spring practice; so I doubt you’d want to insert a guy in the middle of conference play to play a position he won’t have truly played or practiced in nearly a year.

So you’re saying Todd Graves needs to offer him a $100k endorsement deal to come back? I agree

Would be a shitty investment for Todd lol
