Never would have seen this game coming as a potential quality win. Props to Ole Miss. Now let's kick some arse.

I think it should be more of props to Kermit Davis. He and Barnes are easily the current front-runners for SEC COY.

This is a game where LSU’s frontcourt has to show up. That’s where the advantage lies. Don’t get sucked into a free-flowing shooting contest. Attack the paint again, and again, and again.

Something is wrong with the metrics when Louisville is that much lower than N. Carolina after crushing them.

Just for the hell of it, we've beaten five teams in the top 75.
St. Mary's, Alabama, UNCG, Memphis, and Arkansas

Also Tech and Charleston are #99 and #100 (Wade knew what he was doing).

Group 1 means:

vs. 1-30 at home
vs. 1-50 neutral
vs. 1-75 away

St. Mary's is #53 neutral, so group 2
Alabama is #60 home, so group 2
Memphis is #74 home, so group 2

Group 2 is:
vs. 31-75 home
vs. 51-100 neutral
vs. 76-135 away

It is kind of crazy you could beat the #75 on the road and it counts more than beating the #31 team at home. Beating the #135 team on the road counts the same as beating the #31 team at home

Trying to interpret this new NET jargon is a headache. Way to make things simplistic NCAA.

This team is really coming together. If they can win at Ole Miss and the following 2 home games the buzz around this team is going to start to get interesting.

I'll go on a Little rant here

Somehow Auburn jumped 6 spots after beating UGA at home and we moved back after winning @ top 75 Arkansas.

NET IS CONFUSING.

They beat them bad. I'm assuming their efficiency rankings gave them the boost.

LSU's efficiency rankings were probably off the chart at half time. Unfortunately we had to keep playing.

Even though LSU won by 6 we only get credit for winning by 1 because it went to OT.

I was wondering how OT was factored in.

Anyway 25 is still a good spot with a chance to get a signature win coming up.

I'm sure NCAA has an entire subsection dedicated to OT

Honestly the metrics are about right. Beating a 100th team on the road is in fact about the same difficulty as beating the 30th team at home. Winning away is very difficult.

NET IS CONFUSING.

Just like RPI it's not just about your most recent game, it's about every game you've played and how your opponents do as well.

We could beat Ole Miss tomorrow night and theoretically drop if every team we've played on our schedule also lost.

There's a lot that goes into NET beyond the game just played.

I think it's probably going to sort itself out in the end. With the "RPI" aspects of the NET, LSU is very good. Wade did a good job with the OOC schedule in that dept. (LSU is 19th in RPI).

The problem is the metrics such as KenPom and BPI don't see LSU as a top 25 team. Now that obviously can change as the season goes along, but LSU's anchor is it's defense. They just simply aren't a good defensive team (that's why they struggle to close out games).

That said, winning is STILL the most important "metric". As long as LSU continues to do that, they will be fine.

I think LSU matches up great with OM and Wade will not let them get into a shooting match with OM at their own court. Name of this game will be feed the beast and drive to the rim, ball control, ball control, pass, pass, pass in/out, in/out pick and roll.

If Smart, Taylor, Williams, Naz and Days can learn how to drive to the basket with all that explosiveness, size and athleticism then LSU will be the best team in the SEC. Naz is starting to get better, Mays and Waters can do it consistently as well and if the others get better at it, then we are a top 15 team. We have to learn how to rotate and run our offense as a team to take the next step. Defense could be a bit better as well.

Crash the boards in this one and we should win the game. Don't turn the ball over a gazillion times. I'm not sure OM has played anyone with the speed, defense and athleticism that LSU will bring but they won't be scared for damn sure. I think we can be more physical with them down low but we'll have to play better than we did at Bud Walton to win this one. GT
